So it looks like i might be getting my hands on a lever...

It'll be used for plinking & hunting, & maybe the odd comp...(?)

I have poor eyesight & hate wearing glasses, so it WILL have glass on top, & although i lean towards a certain type scope, im keen for some inspiration on optics for it

What optics you guys have on your hunting/plinking/comp levers, and why...?

Cheers :drinks:

I have the Bushnell AR Optics 4.5-18x40 on all my rifles, for consistency.
I don't run a scope on my levers generally, but I do mount them during accuracy testing (I haven't made a mount as yet for the Uberti 66 - that requires either a scout mount or an offset mount due to the top-eject). I just put one on the Marlin .44 to test some more bullets, and I have one on the Henry .22 as well to do some ammo tests. I have Williams peep sights on all four of my levers.

I don't mind the scope on the Marlin, but it's possibly a bit bulky for the .22's. I have a nice old 4x32 Japanese Nikko Silver Crown that would be a nice fit if I decided I needed a scope permanently.

I have a C-More Railway Holo sight on my Marlin 336 .30-30.

I dont like it; sits too high to be a comfortable spot to sight and shoot.
Cant seem to maintain a good cheek-weld and look through the optic.
And it's not like there's anything I can remove to drop the height!
Think I'll go back to the Williams peep sight I had on it before.

If eyesight is a problem, there are Fibre optic foresights (Tru-Glo??)for both Marlin and Win 94 foresights.
I put one on my Win94, and my mate who uses it finds it works a treat for ageing eyesight.

I've had a leupold vx3 1.5-5x20 on my marlin before. Can't see any point on chucking anything bigger than that on.
Also had a bushnell 1x40 red dot on an old Winchester 375 big bore once

Gday stix
I've put a Bushnell trophy TRS-25 red dot .on my 30/30
They're compact light and very easy to acquire for quick shots. It adds absolutely f@#kall to the weight of the rifle and can be mounted on a single base(good for top eject) So far can't complain at all. :drinks:
