pappaszx9 wrote:Wow, great response guys! Thanks for the info! The Lithgow LA101 has always been high on my want list but I remember reading on a forum that you would be crazy to spend that much money on a 22. But Flyer makes a good point, it will probably be the most used gun that I will buy.
So in saying that I guess my budget just doubled. I'm going to go to the Sydney Shot Expo and hopefully see if they have any show specials.
I really like the look of that T1X but I'm leaning towards the Australian made gun for the moment. I guess that may change when I get my hands on them, hopefully at the expo.
New short list is Lithgow La101, Tikka T1x (if it's available) and CZ455.
pappaszx9 wrote:Thanks for everyone's recommendations! I went to the Shot Expo over the weekend and ended up buying a Tikka T1x. I ended up narrowing it down to the Lithgow LA101 and the Tikka. The Lithgow looks and feels like a great gun but the T1X I liked just that bit more.

What was it about the Tikka that you liked? I'm currently looking to get my first gun (a 22LR) and I've been looking at both of these and the CZ455.
pappaszx9 wrote:You could hear that the Lithgow had grooves in the bolt left from when they machined it. I think this would bother me after a while. I know it's being picky but it didn't feel as smooth as the Tikka.in2anity wrote:pappaszx9 wrote:Thanks for everyone's recommendations! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the rifle.
Did they give you any undertakings on timing? Rumour on the internet is that there was some sort of issue with the first T1Xs that caused the long delivery delay. Apparently the first rifles they delivered in Finland had to be recalled and the buyers are only getting them back now. It seems Tikka is being very tight lipped but estimates for delivery in the US range from July to October. I would be surprised if we got deliveries before the US.

Mate I am still waiting for it to arrive!! I've messaged beretta on facebook and they didn't give me any indication of timing. Pretty poor effort!!

Good news! We have received the first (limited) shipment of the Tikka T1x in .17HMR and they will be sent out to shops over the next week. There are not enough rifles to cover existing back-orders so we cannot guarantee everyone waiting will get one in this round but more are on the way!
We have been getting a lot of questions about delivery times for the T1x. Unfortunately, due to unexpectedly large demand, there have been significant delays, causing our original June estimate to go out the window.
We promise to do a better job of communicating delays through our social media channels so that you guys can stay up-to-date on when we expect to receive these hotly anticipated products in Australia.
For those waiting on the .22LR, we expect to receive the first shipment in about 4-8 weeks. Unfortunately we cannot pinpoint this date due to external delays that may be caused due to paperwork and associated bureaucracy!
Stay tuned for more updates!

I was actually told by a Beretta rep at the gun show that they would be delivered in August (about a month from the show). The main thing that gets me is that Beretta haven't communicated anything to people that purchased the gun or even the store as to the delays up until now? I think if I was told they have some teething issues they are sorting out I would be happy they were sorted before they send me the gun, but they have been pretty tight lipped about the reasons it's been so drawn out.
