Yes you do. When I got my first gun, I was like naa this is good enough. So a few weeks later a pta for 308 was put in... disulfide while waiting for PTA to be approved (long story) I went and bought a 22lr. Then I had the urge to get a 6.5 manbun. And after that the only gun I would need is a 223.

Currently I don't have a 223, but another gun is on its way, which will give me two new calibers, and I still want a 223. Last couple of weeks got some crows eating eggs and now I think I definately want an air rifle. I might be able to squeeze two guns, but not the third in my safe... which is a quandary that only has one way to resolve it.... but have a feeling the most obvious solution will create another problem....a half empty safe needs more rifles to fill it :welcome:

Yeah, air rifle- good idea, 8mm Mauser better idea, in fact they are all good. Need a shottie too!Taking the manbun for a walk on Saturday, with the change in deer hunting restrictions a nearby state forest is looking good.

So, decided on new rifle. Dropped by my LGS tonight and shouldered a new Remington in .223. Fitted perfectly

I’m not sure what the model is, but it felt right, sorta choosing a new dog. Short barrel, synthetic stock, think it’s a new model

If it's the 783 you might want to have a look as some forum threads.

.243 is a sensible choice mate and will fit in the middle there somewhere.

Yeah, the 6.5 is lovely to shoot, I whacked an aftermarket recoil pad on (its a Tikka CTR) and the recoil is about the same as my 223 Lite , the only issue I found after taking it for a walk on Sat was that it is not a suitable calibre for meat hunting rabbits and the oversize bolt lug on the CTR tended to get caught up in my pack webbing but I will switch another sling onto it and I think that will solve the problem.

Nice bit of kit mate by the sounds of it. Never had the chance for a shot out of a CTR, but would like to one day. I have a Tikka .223 and rate it highly. Would buy another Tikka in a heartbeat. My Creedmoor is a Sako, only the A7, not the really expensive one. Nevertheless it’s a Sako and it shoots nicely.

Seriously guys, what's wrong with you any gun is better than having nothing. And if you only have a 243, just means you are saving up to get a 223 and manbun. I will have them all..... then kill lots of paper with it and some DIY reactive targets.

It's not going to shoot like a 204, the 223 can be very accurate but it doesn't have much horsepower. A Remington is also not built to the high standards that the Finns build into their rifles. I will be interested to hear what you think of it compared to your Tikka.

OR an alternate view is that it doesn’t waste any horsepower...efficiency = common sense.
