Thats a 98 model 110 defender mate.
I brought it for the wife a couple of years ago but I don't mind admitting I like driving it.
It'll go anywhere I'm going and sits comfortable on 110kph towing the float with two horses in it. :D :drinks:

I'm a Land Rover tragic myself.
Wouldn't have anything else now.

My favourite is my 89 Rangie. The standard 3.9 V8 is now a 4.6 stroker, ported, polished, balanced, big cam, Motec engine management, bigger injectors and fuel pump, bigger radiator and oil coolers, bigger ventilated discs with 4 pots, Bilstein shocks, King Springs, cold air induction, 1 3/4" headers and 3" superflow exhaust. Dyno on installation showed 310hp.

That was 200k kms ago, so some of the horses have escaped, but with faded paint and looking stock on the outside he can still surprise those who judge by appearances and not the rumble.

Had him 20yrs and I still love driving him every time I get behind the wheel.

I love the look of the new ones but they are jammed full of technology you need to be Bill Gates to work on.

I read about a guy with a Series 4 Discovery, doing the "big tour" with the family. Out west of Alice, he went to start it one morning and no response. Flat bedded to Alice, local dealer found that 2 plates in his main battery had broken on the corrugations and shorted out all 8 computers.
They found a rollover in Adelaide and bought the computers from it and had them shipped to Alice.
Turns out all new Land Rover parts are vin keyed to the individual vehicle.
They had to fly a tech guy out to Alice to format and reinstall all the numbers.
$12,00 later they were back on the road, cursing their insurance company because there was a fine print cause that said they weren't covered on non gazetted roads.

Mate I won't even have electronic windows in my fourbie for that reason. Some of the modern tech in cars is really good. ...While it works!!.
The 110 I can do just about anything that needs doin short of a complete engine/turbo rebuild on the side of the road with a decent tool kit.
