Well I contacted Shepherd in Tampa USA and they put me in touch with the Australian, New Zealand distributors. Steve McGuire is the point of contact at South Fort Labs in NZ. They manufacture high end products for the shooting community. He tells me he prefers the Shepard over the Nightforce. He's asked me for my load data and I'm waiting for him to come back to me with options and prices.
For those interested here is a post from the owner of Shepherd on a US forum
Feel free to ask me any questions, I bought my first shepherd 2 years ago and liked it so much I bought the company. My name is Patrick Bass and my company Salvo Technologies now owns Shepherd scopes. A couple of general pieces of info on the Shepherd. Dan Shepherd never put one tiny piece, not even an o-ring, from china or Taiwan or the Philippines in a single one of his scopes. Every part came from the USA, Japan and Germany and still does today. Though we make a lot more of the parts today. My factory is in Tampa Florida , just out side of Tampa. We are the only company in United states making scopes who has our own optics manufacturing facility (look it up salve electro optics, also owned by salvo technologies). The war over who has the best optics ended a year ago, just everyone doesnt know it yet. lol Reach out to many anytime if you want to discuss optics, hear whats coming or just ask a few questions. We are an employee owned small american business making scopes, not to many of us anymore as the big boys try to keep everyone out of the market so they can keep raising the prices. I hope you will visit our website at Home you will see we make optics for raptor drones, Apache helicopters and satellites and trust me the quality expectation for a satellite is much more rigorous than any traditional scope company has for a scope.
