My rifles from South Africa are arriving on Sunday, after 132 days!
The shipping agent has been painful to communicate with but seems capable enough. I got a phone call on Monday from Qantas telling me they're coming. I got an email from the shipping agent today telling me he's sent them
The B709 was sent to my dealer as he has to collect them when they arrive in the country, before they can be transferred to me. When he suddenly decided to shut down his shop I got it off him just to ensure it didn't get lost, so I need to now deliver it back to him for collection...but, I noticed a typo when I checked it on Monday.
They've put them as 6.5x55mm instead of 6.5x58mm - I'm guessing they just choose from a drop-down list that has never heard of 6.5x58mm.
I don't want to pay my dealer for a five-hour journey only to be told "Computer says no!", so I rang to see if it was a problem.
All I wanted was to talk to the people at Border Force that we'll be talking to when we pick them up so they can tell me if it's a problem that I need to sort out now, or if they'll just correct it at the time - not possible!
So I got onto Firearms, they pulled up my application and the B709, saw the typo, and declared it was not good.
I emailed them scans of both and asked them to correct the typo and send out a new B709...and that I'm hoping to pick the rifles up on Sunday...pretty please.
My dealer has not yet received it so I rang again. It's been posted today so we should have it Monday
So it'll now be 134 days until I have them, but I'm still smiling
Plus, I was about to place an order yesterday for 200 pieces of .30-06 brass for forming brass, at a buck a piece, when I found a Christmas special - 500 pieces for $200! It's Winchester, which I hate, but I get 300 pieces for "free" so I should be able to salvage enough, and it'll be a different head stamp from my .30-06 brass
