Revolver safe storage requirements

Post by geekwithguns » 17 Jan 2019, 9:26 am

So I got a new revolver and from the factory it comes with a plastic safety disc on the cylinder kind of like a moon clip but a solid disk.

Now i'm wondering would using that be sufficient to satisfy the Queensland legal requirement of a broken action when stored in the safe? If I have to leave the cylinder open then it wont fit back in the nice hard case it came in.

How do you guys store your revolvers in the safe.

I would say it doesn't satisfy the requirements. Just grab a trigger lock, their cheap as chips on ebay.

On the other hand, I have never heard of anyone being done for not storing their pistols or revolvers with the action broken. Personally, I don't bother and nor does anyone I know. Plenty of inspections have been done and the cops have never said anything.

My pistols all live in their hard cases in the safe. I have been told by QWL that they are happy with that.

Is that with the cylinder closed and with or without the plastic safety disc?

Yep, mine just live in the safe in their boxes without any locks or plastic disks. The bloke i spoke to at QWL told me it was ok. Same as my semi auto pistols, their actions aren't broken either, they are stored in the same way.
