Rifle transporting in tasmania

Post by HereSkip » 25 Jan 2019, 4:44 pm

G'day lad's so Ive just put some subs and other goodies behind the seats in my ute ( 75 series cruiser) which is where i used to put my rifle when going for a shot.

Now that i dont have that space ive done some reading on the tas police website and im a little confused, apparently i just need to lock my bolt away, have my ammo stored in a safe manner and shes apples?

can someone clarify this for me? id hate to be pulled up and look like a totall bubba.

The operative part is "away from the firearm", so, rifle in the back or boot of a car, ammo box on the front floor, bolt in the locked glovebox or small cash tin etc. What the cops want most of all is that nothing be visible from outside the vehicle. A few years back I attended a National Comp at Blue Hills, and was stopped in Sheffield for a breatho, got chatting to the cop about this after other small talk and this was the upshot. Keep thing well separate, mags empty, and out of sight, Cheers.
