Safe inspection at last...

Post by Die Judicii » 27 Dec 2018, 5:44 pm

Yee Haaaaa Grandmaa,,,

At long last, after being an active shooter/hunter for more than fifty years, I was informed by the local friendly copper that I'm gonna get inspected early in the new year (for compliance)

I have NEVER been inspected for storage compliance before.

I asked the previous bloke to come and inspect me, but he just smiled and shook his head saying "I don't like to do unnecessary work."

So it looks like I'll eventually get checked.

1 inspection per 50 years.

Seems useful.

You couldn't possibly get up to any mischief is so limited a time, right?

There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Some time late January Mate, (when I let him know that I'm actually home).
He's our new bloke, and seems very keen to work with the land owners,, rather than being an rsole.

Had my inspection done this morning (first ever for me)

Local constabulary guy.
Very nice bloke, easy to talk to, and efficient, and praps more importantly,,,, knew what he was dealing with.
I was told that I win the "prize" for having everything in order, with no discrepancies (according to his list from WLB), and all regulations met.

A 5 star rating from me to the Qld Police.

Did the copper doing the inspection say if there was any particular "trigger" (pardon the pun :D ) for it or was it a case of lucky dip??

No lucky dip apparently Mate.
From what he told me just before Xmas, there is an increase in rural areas being targeted by thieves looking for F/arms.
However, they are mainly choosing easy targets ie, arms not secured, or in substandard lock away cupboards etc.

He said there was a case in the last few days (? up your way) of six or eight being knocked off in one hit.
And the Qld police are starting to do more inspections as a result, state wide.

So if they work their way through the lists methodically everyone in Qld that has f/arms will eventually get inspected.

Here in the Mid North of SA I've heard of 3 farms being knocked over and firearms stolen. Pricks would scope the place out, wait til the farmer had finished all his work and gone on holidays then spend the day/days using all the farmers tools to get into the safes....scum.
Easy come, easy go.

Yeah sounds like they're doing it around most of the country at the moment. .hadn't heard of any inspections being done around here yet but it probably won't be long. As I'm totally compliant they are welcome to come out here anytime. :D :drinks:
