Is G96 safe to use on rifle wood?

G'day, I am new to firearm cleaning.

Is G96 safe to use on a rifle wood stock?
When cleaning the barrel some drips off onto the wood.

Cheers

I’ve been warned not to use G96 on wood. It’s petroleum based like a few gun oils . I use balistol. Invented by the Germans, it’s wood friendly, works well on leather and can be used as a antiseptic

I’ve used it for years just can’t remember if I’ve used it on wood or not to be honest. I’m sure I’ve got some on wood over the years and can’t remember seeing any I’ll effects. Maybe send the manufacturers a email asking the question?

G'day MackDaddy,
No, it can't harm your woodwork, either solid or laminate, both Gun Treatment and the newer synthetic CLP are safe to use on all surfaces, Cheers.

What do you use it for? Corrosion protection? A lubricant?

There are dedicated wood oil products for your stock, I wouldn't let it migrate down into the action area.
