Let’s see those Rigs

Keen to see everyone’s set up for general off-roading, camping and hunting. Here’s a pic of my VW Amarok.

Yeah it was rolled up the rd. But goes first time every time and doesn't stop til I turn the key. I'll eventually take the roof off and put a cage in it to use as a general wheelbarrow /fun rig on the block!! :drinks:

This is a "rig", those are just 4x4's. :sarcasm:
And, I'll wager a bet I've done more "off-road" in it than most 4x4's.

Once you have gone tracks, you don't go back. You look at a rough bit of country and think how it could be made easier.

Just taking a little piss of my own there gamerancher. :D

That bad boy can rip hard shale a full shank deep first time. I was ripping for a 120t digger that could only leave teethmarks on it. Went through ripper boots and shank guards like they were cheese, and ~1000lt of diesel per shift.

Have you seen that bloke somewhere up around Clermont(QLD) who's 'upgraded a couple of D11's for blade-ploughing?

Hard to imagine a D11 being under-gunned for ANYTHING...

Beefed up the power output & cooling systems, and incorporated an auxiliary fuel tank into the frame of the blade-plough, so they can run for 24 hours without stop. Pretty sure he's got 2 of them, and working on building a third...
Freaking blade-plough looks like you could use it as the winged keel on an aircraft carrier...

That is one BALL TEARER of a tractor Rod. The new engine was so big they had to put the radiator and oil coolers on the roof of the cab.

70t is pretty decent weight for a plow too

Dont think I'd seen the upgrade to put the radiator up top, but then I think I'd only seen a photo that showed around the hitch & front of the plough, in the past.

Really need a couple of blokes to stand in front of that blade, to get an idea of the huuuuuge freaking size of that thing...
Is the D10 blade 40ft across, or is it the D11?
That blade on the plough (2nd pic) would have to be the ultimate gong for a shooting target!
Probably able to shoot it from 20 feet away with your .50 cal without it drilling through, (and maybe duck as you pull the trigger)...
Of course; finding something to hang it from would be a challenge in itself...Maybe upend the 70T plough??

What you're thinking of is a 60m3 coal blade Rod used for pushing prepared coal in stockpiles or power stations, general blades for digging applications are much smaller because of the forces involved. The blade on my 10 was set up for hard rock work.

Yeah; I think the only D11's I've ever seen in the wild, have been pushing a mountain of coal at a rail loading facility (near Bluff??).

That blade would make an awesome backstop at Roddy's home-grown rifle range...
[Mind you; an day with the rest of the dozer attached, and you'd have the backstop from hell anyway...]

G'day Wrenchman, she's a '95 model. Been re-powered with a 14 litre series 60 @ 575hp. ( Pre-EGR ). Rides on Neway airbag rear end.
Mainly used for the grain harvest, not that we've had one around here for the last 2 years due to the drought.

pre egr much easyer to maintain i just spent a week doing nothing but working on it cold weather is not good on it the def systems freez its not enough that the fuel is jelling.
the older 60 detroit is a better eng to the newer ones the right rear side of the heads seem to leak oil all the time and the injector tubes.
It looks good most the ones here dont stay on the road for that long the auto industry here wont load them if they are older then 10 years old.
lumber and steel and fuel haulers run them much longer most the macks i see are run by the fuel haulers

Plenty of older trucks still working out here. I own this old girl and a few different trailers, so I don't have to work them full time. I just pick and choose what I do and when I do it.
The large transport companies that dominate most of the freight movement tend to run new fleets and it is a lot harder to get work with them with older trucks. I've worked for a few them as both a sub-contractor and company driver over the last 30 odd years. They are finding it harder to get good experienced drivers and are tending to buy trucks with automated gearboxes so they can put inexperienced drivers that just got their licence through a driving school straight to work. Most of them wouldn't have a clue how to load a trailer or tie down a load, tarps are all but a thing of the past. You can imagine the decline in on road driving skills that this is creating.

Extrapolate that a step firther with fleets of inexperienced drivers, lacking the autonomic muscle memories and database of trial and error of experience, in automated convoys, as currently being developed.

Agreed, and my big hate is when people refer to their 4x4 as a "truck"

I confess I get a bit tired of seeing the Landcruiser with the Mack bulldog on the bonnet, and with oversized 'MACK' mudflaps on the back.
Wouldnt mind quite so much. if old mate actually OWNED a Mack, or had even set foot in one!
Bulldog-envy??

I quite like women, but I dont find I need to turn my tired old Landcruiser wagon into a freaking shrine to them...

BOY! I must be a grumpy phuk today... time for more coffee.

I've got an early model Mack dog,,,,, that I managed to buy quite cheaply. It is the "long eared" version, and hand made not CNC mass produced.

Not because I want to play make believe trucks,,, just simply that I like them.

Apparently all the new stuff from now on (mudflaps for example) will only bear the name MACK, but the bulldog is omitted which I'm guessing will make all the early stuff still containing the bulldog collectable.
