Armscor 22lr ammo. Rebranded Highland. But different!

I bought a brick of Armscor 40gr high velocity hollow at my local the other day. It was $45 for a brick of 500. The guy behind the counter sound it was exactly the same as the old Highland stuff. Bit I figured I'd give it a try. The highland stuff has s**t pretty well for in the past.

First impression straight out of the box. It's definaltely different stuff and not exactly the same as the Highland stuff. For starters the case is nickel in colour and the projectile is a copper colour and the profile kind of reminds me of 42gr PowerPoint.

Anyway they shoot alright in my 22s from initial testing. Not super consistant. Kind of what you'd expect from cheaper ammo.

So mainly just wanted to let people know that while the ammo still appears to be sort of Highland stuff. It definelty appears slightly different and may be worth trying to see if it works ok for you.

I purchased a brick of Armscor in “super quiet” for $50 for 500.
Perfect for the price and I’ll be getting more

I've tried the Highland super quiet. Not all of them were quiet. Some sounded like high velocity and the flyers indicated they might have being. I might try the Armscor version to see if they are any more consistant.

Armscor made all the rim fire ammo branded highland, u can check boxes to show "made in Philippines" I use the highland super quiet zx in a few of my 22s, it even cycles my ruger charger.

PPU was re-branded to highland for their centerfire ammo. Just my 2 cents...

I bought a packet of the high velocity hollow point to give it a try. When I shot it in my Anschutz it was abysmal. I was shocked at how much the spread was. It would have been well over 4 inches at 50 yards. The Anschutz shoots most ammo pretty well so this was quite unexpected. What was even more unexpected was that when I shot the same ammo through my CZ Farmer it was the exact opposite. It shot quite well. The group size was around an inch. What I took from this was I need to shoot the ammo a bit more out of the CZ to confirm it is ok. If it keeps shooting well, I will happily use it in that rifle.

The Anschutz shoots CCI Stingers well. So if I will just need to run separate ammo for each rifle. Which means the CZ will get used a bit more as I am a tightwad.

My Armscor super quiet are louder then the CCI Quiet.

For plinking with mates or nephew in the back paddock they are perfect, cheaper then a Schooner at the RSL!

They have enough power to work the A22.

Wouldn’t bother using them in a benchrest rifle.

At $5 / pack I don’t mind if they aren’t MOA

LGS $40 a brick! Couldn’t afford not to... that’s cheap in FNQ

Bullets are pretty waxy

I picked some of the 36gn HV hollow point, and compared it to CCI 36gn Mini mags. The CCI is my choice of round from my Ruger American rimfire as i've found they have a good group size and a nice punch. I was quite amazed at 25M the Armscor grouped better than the CCI, but at 50M they seem to open up wider compared to the CCI. I need to investigate further but i'm hoping they could be a goer for me.

At $33 for 500 of the Armscor vs $90+ for 500 CCI they could be worthwhile. I did a bit of offhand, sitting and standing supported and I found them to be of acceptable accuracy for me doing such activities.I find a bit of shooting like this is a good test of practical accuracy.

surprise surprise..... the Highlabd / Armscor subsonic shoots beautifully in my Colt 1921 in .22LR......yeah requires cleaning after every use but still ......cheap n cycles with every shot as compared to Winchester , CCI, Federal n many others which basically fails to slide or extract with every shot.....
