So i got out on the weekend to have a good look around at where i knock most of my foxes over.
Seems ill have a slow Feb to june next year as there is not much about at all...!!
i must have left my bag of basic shooting fundamemtals at home cos i shot like crap the whole weekend too...
Here's a young'n that sat a little too long on his doorstep...just on 50 yds with the .22 shootin sub hp's.

I did knock over a half grown fox pup...feisty little fella he was.
Caught him ripping away at a bunny he must have caught for dinner.

The 204 made a mess given his size & close range, but lucky the shot was low & blew out his chest in the middle--i say lucky as i wanted the skin, so the hole wont be noticable as it was symmetrical through the cut down the middle.

Here is a more pleasant pic without the blood...

A while back i eired up a cats skull in a tree just for kicks, but i didnt do a great job of it as i went to retrieve it this trip only to find the bottom jaw.
So i decided ill keep his skull of this fox so teturned to his resting place the next day only 10-12 hrs after he was skun out
This was him as i left him...

And this was him 12ish hrs later with barely 7hrs of daylight.
There was a crow on him when i found him...so he did get eaten...

So after a few crappy shots at bunnies in the last hour of visible daylight, i wandered to a sandhill with the 22.
It was blowing a 10-15mph which was in my favour, although where the bunnies sit im looking into the glow after sunset--not easy to make them.out sitting at the edge of the mallee.
Heres the view...

I didnt fit the bipod so i had to use an extra elevated pool cue type technique & rest the forend on my wrist...seemed to work ok...
I managed to knock one over, & while trying to decide which one i shoot next i saw a bunny run right up the hill directly towards me...it popped its head out to the right side of that shrub in the pic not more than 7 metres in front of me & stood there trying to figure me out...so i popped a hollow point subby into its head..

.then to my utter amazement another one immediately popped its head out to the left of the shrub...
I couldnt believe it didnt run away when i cycled the bolt...
So i popped one into her as well...

Ended up with 3 at that hotspot & they were a lot of fun even though they were so close...!!

I really did shoot like s**t & miss many more heads than usual, but the absolute highlight was at dusk just before the fox pup on the first night.
It was the last throws of daylight & i picked one bunny out of 3 at 243 yds...
Just as im half way through the trigger squeeze one bunny hopped behind (or in front) of the other (cant tell which one was in front through the scope as all i could make out was the outline).
Anyway...i didnt hesitate followed through the squeeze & thought it would be funny if i got a 2 for 1 deal...
Well the shot rang out & i saw the silhouette fall over thtough the scope & twitch legs in the air....but only one set of legs was all.
But when i got out there, this is what i found..
.

The pic is taken from the direction of the shot...& although the shot has hit a bit low, its probably a blessing as the bullet has hit both in the neck & bled em out too...!!
All up for the weekend got a dozen bunnies, a fox pup & a couple of fersl pigeons.
I shot like crap but the 2 for 1 kinda makes up for it.
The man who knows everything, doesnt really know everything...he's just stopped learning...
