I had an interesting experience this morning
I dug up a picture which pretty much tells the story...

The dark green strip on the left of the road is the bike lane, the bright green arrow was my path.
So I was riding in the vehicle lane.
Put on my left indicator.
Braked.
Checked the mirrors... I see a pair of cyclists a sufficient distance back so turn left into the driveway, as pictured.
I come to a complete stop in the driveway and a second later I get the ride-by shout, this woman screams (scream is the correct word to use here, not an exaggeration) "don't ride in the bike lane d**khead!".
It's got to be a hell of a trick for any motorist to get in an out of that driveway without touching that lane
Jokes aside, clearly I had to cross the bike lane. I did so properly with consideration for others around me and was completely in the right. We had been going parallel for about 100m before that, and in that time I heard her scream at a pedestrian behind me for something too; she's obviously just fired up ready to have a go any anyone who come anywhere near her.
I'm not actually have a go at cyclists here - d**kheads come from all walks of life, as we know - but I think, man, what a state to be in. How can you ride in that state of fury all the time?
Relax, take the tram. You'd be much happier yourself and not destined for a heart attack
