So, I’ve been shopping for a while for another Leupold scope 4-12 / 40 or 50 to drop on my 30-06 sauer. It’s shooting a lot better than the current scope, the ole 3-9 bushnell and she deserves an upgrade.
So I’ve missed out on a couple second hand units over the last couple of weeks and yesterday, ole mate on used guns sold one out from under me - despite me already sending him a deposit...yep, I know right.
So, in my outright frustration and fuzzie head - I bought a vortex diamond back 4-12/40 without doing a lot of research...it was pretty cheap but I knew 2 things. Vortex is generally regarded as the best value/cheapest after the cheap rubbish sector and they had a lifetime no questions asked warranty...
So to my queries - has anyone mounted a diamond back AO on to a large centrefire ? If so, how have you found the (now I look it up!!!!) very tight 2.5-3 inch eye relief?
How is the glass? Is the 4-12 enough magnification for 250m rabbit head sized target acquisition?
It is what it is now - I should have researched but I was thoroughly annoyed with Mr two timing better offer and wasn’t thinking straight. If it’s crap, then I’ll try and recover some of my $$$ and get back into que and saving for another second hand Leupold. I’m hoping this won’t be the case lol.
