I remember hearing when I first got my license that if you have a Cat A&B license and own more than a certain amount of firearms you needed to have higher security at the premises, like alarms and back to base monitoring.
Can anyone shed some light on it.

Down here in Victoria it's fifteen CatA/B and then you need a very basic alarm system, not monitored, not professionally installed, with an external flashing light and a siren. Once you have the alarm there's no legislated limit on how many CatA/B you can have.

zhuk wrote:Nope, no limit on A/B in NSW as mentioned, a member of my club has 70 and no alarm required, I have 15. Handguns are a different matter I think its somewhere in the vicinity of 15-20 alarm/back to base will be indicated. But don't quote on that last figure.

No limit on handguns for private individuals providing you can demonstrate genuine reason. That 15 limit applies to security companies only
