Thanks.

Honestly, I used a Hoppes 3 piece rod for many years. I would just use it till it breaks. Most of the gun acesdories are over priced if you think retionaly about it. Its a piece of steel rod for christs sake.
Better to spend the dollars saved on fuel to go hunting.

I see where you are coming from but aluminium is a soft metal and will collect the debris/dirt from the bore over time, and running that down the rifle can ruin the rifling quite easily, getting a good quality rod is a lot more cheaper then getting a new gun or barrel replacement/repair. Plus the 3-piece rod that came with mine is a bit flimsy.

Bollocks, just wipe the rod clean after each use. Rod should never come in contact with the bore anyway. In any case i dont tnink i bit of carbon material occassionally coming in contact with the bore compares with say, 2000c deg and a copper bullet being jamed down a bore at say 2600fps.
Obviously so e people have very deep pockets.

green_comet wrote:Just be careful using a .22 caliber cleaning rod on a .22 rifle, sometimes they're a very tight fit through the barrel or just won't fit at all. If this is the case you'd need to get a thinner .18 or .20 caliber rod so it fits through easily. As others had mentioned, definitely use a bore guide.

I'm Not, the first time I used mine the bearings failed in the handle It was replaced the next day and I haven't bothered with it since, it's in the shed somewhere.

I will probably end up buying the Hoppe's 9 elite one when I can be bothered. Seems really good.

I have one of these, and can confirm it is a quality product.
