I've got a Redding 3 die set with tapered expander button on its way.
I've already got 160 bullet factory 200gn hollow points.
The barrel is being made by Sprinter firearms right now and will be fitted to my winchester model 70 featherweight. I'll run open sights and I'll also run a 4x scope in QD rings.

can't wait to hear about how this one works out pete. i got the same idea , but ya beat me to the punch . i put my 358 win project on hold cause the 243 mod 70 "westener" that i got as a donor shoots too good . bit of long range work on some of the properties i hunt that a 243 is well suited for . ahhh well, i'll have to go buy another bloody gun for a 358 conversion..... :P

:o  :o :(

definately not a lot of 243 love in you pete

243 actually makes more sense for a goat/dog/fox/ cat rifle than my 6.5x55 . 243 is a plenty flat shooter too . besides all that it fills a gap between my 6.5 and 222 :P

i was looking at a early model 70 xtr in 25-06 , but it sold quick . i guess i would have to get a 22-250 to fit between my 222 and 243 as well

The worst of it is...if you are truely OCD as i am, & also have a leaning towards neatness & symetry, the gaps are not only more numerous, they're also uneven...!!

I dont know what goes in between a 243 & long action 6.5... :unknown: ...a short action 6.5...a creedy... :unknown:

But for the excessive gap from 222 -243...
I suggest 22-250 (only girly men shooters dont have a smack-dinger of a 22 cal 8-) )...
& then for the upper end of that gap... as Pete says, a 257... :D

Don't over look the Barnes 180gr TSX

Haven't chrono'd my BLR358 load but I'd imagine that it scoots along atleast 2700 fps

lady problems pete ? they can fill ya with joy, or break ya heart . it's all experience, life goes on , there's more of life left to experience even after bad/sad situations or events . to have our highs in life we must also have our lows to balance things out

and if that's to zen for ya , wax on , wax off daniel san :P

Emotional concerns and attachment still applies even to “just a friend “ I’ve been fortunate to have such friends in my life that looked upon me as a trusted brother. Enough of the deep and meaningful, let’s get back to shootin’ sh!t

i paid $80/50, hardly a deal breaker I reckon especially as they fly flatter and do as much controlled penetration damage you need.
