Ricky Gervais vs lion hunters

Post by allthegearandnoidea » 13 Aug 2019, 6:33 pm

Ricky doesn't mince words when he describes these hunters as a c***t cluster...https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7343233/Comedian-Ricky-Gervais-blasts-trophy-hunter-shot-dead-charging-lion-sickening-video.html

I dont know the full circumstances of the particular hunt but I personally never got the whole safari style hunt myself. I get the economics of it for the locals but it seems a bit like shooting fish in a barrel - even though this one got a bit lively!

I don't get bear hunters either. As odious as this African trophy hunting is and how people get upset about it on twitter etc., the real issue is habitat destruction, not trophy hunting. Trophy hunting is almost inconsequential in terms of extinction of wild life compared to habitat destruction and human over population

Agreed on habitat destruction and human overpopulation. Who wants to be the bad guy in this political correct world and tell people they can’t have kids ? Or third world country’s they have to cut their birth rates ? It’s a increasing population that’s driving resources and habitat destruction. The idiot protesters in Brisbane are carrying on about carbon emissions in a country that produces 1% emissions on the world scale. Try explaining what’s driving this would result in a blank look or no desire to deal with it cause it’s not a popular thing on Facebook

This bit of attention grabbing seems be commonplace with 'so called' celebrities whose media presence may be currently in the doldrums.

What's hard to get about it, people eat bears all the time, it's great meat to eat and it's a hell of a challenge to boot getting it, unlike rolling up to the butchers to get ones freshly killed by someone else so I don't have to bother doing it myself version. :unknown:

We as a society are so lazy now that if push came to shove and the planet went to s**t 99.99% of us would perish as we can't do s**t for ourselves now, we are so dependant on other people to keep us alive we wouldn't even know where to begin on how to keep ourselves alive. :unknown:

f***ing spot on big fella.
I can't believe that anyone on this forum would give Ricky Gervais any air time at all. And it's funny how many people would say things like it's just a canned hunt, yet most likely go out spot lighting quite happily for bunnies, foxes, or deer

Ricky Gervais is nothing but a cheap shill and sycophant, a childish bully and intellectual weakling. He only ever goes for the low hanging fruit and is nothing more than a lazy over opinionated, under qualified pommy git, and a failed musician to boot. He only ever receives attention for picking on others quite often soft targets that cant defend themselves, either due to their state of being or due to them not having celebrity status. He is a total socialist cuck to boot... typical archetype of a millenial in an 80s kids body. The precursor to todays level of intellectually and morally bankrupt entitlement and elitist attitudes.

Well I guess that’s because opinionated leftards like Ricky G symbolise what’s been posted. The type of snowflake people that would align themselves with Ricky really annoy me I suppose. I’ve no desire to hunt stuff like lions or bears, but if others want to do it legally and responsibly go for it . I would be laughing too I guess at the lucky escape that lion hunter had . He was so close to getting ripped apart . ridding Australia’s environment of ferals while taking a goat or deer for my freezer is where I’m at . The people that support Ricky’s views are ignorant of this stance and hunting in general . So many people jump on the leftard/ green bandwagon these days with no idea of what things are about. Those lion hunters would’ve paid big bucks to do it and if the lion numbers are up and need reducing I can’t see the problem. Poaching for the Chinese medicine market is what Ricky G should be ranting about

I bet ya the whinging pommie prick is only too happy to kill a fly or other bug that he deems to be a problem, heaven forbid a lion gets killed because it too has become a serious health issue for those who live nearby.

I'm wondering what the Whinging Pommie would think if half his family or friends were suddenly turned into dinner one night? Would he think it was a problem or not? and how would he deal with it, perhaps catch it and release it somewhere else to be someone elses problem?

Um does he even have any friends? Seems to be the kind of person akin to the cool kid in primary school who's childish bullying and smart arse behaviour alienates everyone but he/theyre too pretentious and self absorbed to notice...

Ricky Gervais is a talented comedian in my view. So if I needed an advice on comedy I would listen to what he had to say on that topic. Unfortunately with these media types they believe there opinion on other issues is worth listening to. If you do any pre-purchase research you will find out that lion hunting is an expensive and highly regulated undertaking. It generates a lot of revenue for local people in Africa. I work with a former game keeper from South Africa. He pointed out that they need to manage the animal population in the reserves. It makes more sense to earn $US20,000 from a hunter wanting a trophy than it does just culling the animal. Ricky appears not to care about that. He is a twat in my opinion.

Ricky can be very funny but his views are likely formed from watching "Kimba", "The Lion King" and "Born Free" (one of the lions from that project apparently later killed and ate a local - it had no fear of humans. So much for rehabilitation).
Maybe he should read "Death in the Long Grass" by Peter Capstick or "The Lions of Tsavo and Other East African Adventures" by Col. James Patterson. He might change his mind about these "majestic creatures" but I doubt it.
I am in awe of anyone - native or newcomer - who lives long term in Lion country. They would scare the bejasus out of me and I am amazed at the balls and composure of this bloke to stay focused under extreme pressure. I'd need a change of underwear.
