Heaps of kangaroos are culled and left to rot in the paddocks, because not enough people want to buy kangaroo meat to make the price high enough to be worth selling. And now they are making a fake kangaroo meat. Who do they think will buy it?

I doubt the engineered stuff will still have the right ratio's of omega 3,6 and 9. No different to crappy farmed salmon, a poor substitute to the real thing

Surely the traditional method of kangaroo harvesting is quicker. How do they grow meat from stem cells as fast as a 22 250 ?

Tofu Roo sounds like these people have too much time on their hands and to be granted money for such a thing well it speaks for itself as well as the investors I think the money would have been better spent being donated to a children hospital

You can take a fish, 8 hours from coast of Tassie, have it in Asia inside 24 hours where they pay shed loads - you can’t tell me there is not a market for fresh and real roo meat if it was marketed properly...

First I've heard of fake roo meat ... ridiculous.
Have you seen the costs of producing these laboratory meats?

I've seen a few articles recently on landline about the fake meat burgers and chicken nuggets that mad lefty, animal liberationist, vegan type scientists are creating.

We're a while off seeing any fake meat that tastes like meat being sold commercially, but they're certainly making the stuff, It's just cost prohibitive at the moment.

Hopefully farmers win the battle to stop them using the word "meat" when advertising this vegans wet dream come true, hipster friendly, save the world fake meat rubbish.

But do you reckon the lower class in (insert emerging 3rd world country) would care if it were $5 a kilo when beef is $50 a kilo?

I would like to share that under 13 Kg dressed blue doe red Kangaroo that has been hung in a cool room for 10-20 days is the best meat for flavour and tenderness you can get even better than goat which is pretty good as well. The Western grey buck Kangaroo is inedible over 13 Kg dressed and even the small does are pretty ordinary.I will boil up the tails and girdle with stew type vegetables and season the crap out of it just to get it down

I was given some Tas forester legs - eastern gray I think - and that meat is melt in your mouth. The problem with it is, that its too lean...not enough fat to flavour it up whilst cooking it but if you continually baste it with melted butter or similar - it comes out bloody good.
