Mate is arriving.

Post by Die Judicii » 04 Sep 2019, 12:26 am

In a couple days, a long standing Mate is leaving the frozen wilds of Sth East South Australia,, and flying up to sunny (drought stricken) Qld.
Here for a week and a half,,,,,,, we intend on doing some serious all night vigils and subsequent shooting of vermin.
Hopefully we will get some pics of worthwhile victims.

I'm sure you'll have plenty of liquids on hand to combat the drought :drinks: Sounds like a good time, enjoy!!

Well, my mate has arrived and we went out to the property where I shot the feral dog/dingo tonite/yesterday (its now 2-30 ish am.
What a sh!it of a night.
50 klm/hr wind,,,, whipping up dust real bad.
The dust was that bad that you could see the entire length of the green laser pointer beam.
We persevered till 2 am and the only animals (apart from us) that were stupid enough to front the weather were a couple of wallabies
that were sheltering in amongst some big old trees.
So we packed up and came home.
Hopefully the wind will blow itself out today for a better night tomorrow.

I'm gonna have a guess and say your second night was almost as s**ty as the first. ?

Hopefully the liquid relief quenched the disappointment if that's how it was.

Yep OOW,,,,,,,
We set up way down from the peaks very close to the waters edge of a dam (nearly the only water in that area) and therefore avoided a lot of wind.
We had found fresh pig sign including a very large boar prints where a lot of things come in to water.
We stayed till 2am again, but yet again we were the only ones silly enough to be out there.

The weather report doesn't appear to be promising either.

That's a little bit sucky...

It settled down last night down my way (Murray Mallee) it would've been a great night for shooting but I was stuck indoors looking after kids while the missus is away.

Can't even invite the mistress around, the kids are old enough to to know what's going on

hopefully the Bureau of Meteorology have got it wrong and you'll jag a break in the weather before old mate heads back.

Well,,,,,,,, the big fellah upstairs must've been watching my Mate, and decided not to let him have any fun.
The day he arrived at the airport the wind and the chill set in.
It continued non stop all the time he was here.
And,,,, when he got to the airport yesterday (Tues morning) for the return home, it stopped blowing and the sun came out again. :wtf:
Unfking-believable. :?

Apart from airfares,,,, he was just thankful it wasn't one of those big dollars paid up front guided tour hunts.

Ahh well,,,,,,,, maybe next year the Gods will smile upon him.

Nah,,,, no can do.
I've now got another 4 properties,,, and it looks like I'll only be using the .17 and .308 on the next two or three nights out
And you would know that the moon is still getting brighter

So the pink stick gets a rest.

I hate the moon with a passion. I wish it would just pack up its bags and go away and never come back
