G'day everyone,

I am from WA and have ordered a 300prc, just wondering if anyone out there has had anything to do with this caliber ? I have also heard a rumor from a dealer here, that WA licensing has just put this caliber on there hard to get list. Has anyone heard that :?: Thanks in advance for anyone who cares to answer.
Kind regards

I have shot the 375 version, nothing wrong with the case design. What are you looking to do with it? What bullet do you intend to use?

Hi,
It would be used to cull camels and ferrel bulls also do extra long range target. I was going to start loading with Hornady 225grn ELD match and see how they go.

I have not used the ELDM but have tried the 220 ELDX on game. I have found these accurate enough and work well on game. For target work I would not look to Hornady and you will do much better with Berger or even Sierra bullets.

What brass is available for the PRS?

Is it a factory rifle you are getting?

FWIW I think there’s a measurable difference between the ELD-X and ELD-M - the M being a better target round. I’ve shot the 178gr ELD-Ms over long distances with competitive success. However I do agree that if you’re regularly punching paper there are better brands than Hornady.
At what point does lack of maintenance become patina?

It can be a little frustrating tuning Hornady match projectiles, then you buy some Bergers and it all comes together.

There is not a lot of brass available at the moment, Hornady seems to be the main one available here. The rifle is a Christensen Arms Messa Long Range. I will be trying Berger, Sierra and whatever until i get it right.

They use a Remington action don't they?

Have you already got some optics for it?

Yes the action is Remington and my optics is a Nightforce ATACR 7-35X56 on a 20moa rail with 20moa Spur mounts

The Nightforce is a nice choice, has has about 100 MOA of elevation and you are building in another 40.

The Sphur rings are like a Volvo, strong but boxy. The ATACR won't be moving. Do you already have the scope and if so, what do you think of it?

Well you have the elevation covered more than you will ever be able to shoot out too. Quality components. If you do find it is too much elevation put the scope mounts on backwards and it will cancel out.
A guy at our club had done this by accident and was just starting to get into trouble at 900 yrds before that he never noticed it. The scope was a Nightforce competition. Before that he had a NF 8-32 I think and never noticed it out to 900.

Gotta love the yanks ......they have to keep producing new calibre to keep their industry alive...........

For this grasshopper ....i will stick to the boring 308 and 30-06 and leave the big bangers to the long range heroes..........

Why don't you live a little Cleatus and check out a 6mm. The ballistics on a plain old 243 are amazing compared with the big bangers.
