Bushnell Trophy Xtreme 6-24 x 50mm

Post by TheFirearmEnthusiast » 06 Jan 2020, 8:53 pm

Hi everyone

I thought I would take the time to say thank you to everyone who helped me and shared their insight with me regarding purchasing my first scope

After heaps of research
After heaps of deliberation
After heaps of listening to shooters' advices etc

I have decided to purchase a:
"Bushnell Trophy Xtreme 6-24 x 50mm" for my 1st scope
(I bought it today)

I'll probably take it down to the range over the next 4x weeks or so to see how it does

I'll post my feedback of it on here so that maybe it'll help the new shooters of the future who might want feedback about the: "Bushnell Trophy Xtreme 6-24 x 50mm" just like I did

- For how much I wanted to spend ($500 max)
- For what I wanted in terms of specs
- For what I wanted in terms of getting all my boxes ticked
I do believe that the "Bushnell Trophy Xtreme 6-24 x 50mm" was the best choice for me..
But I guess we will see about that :)

God Bless you all

I hope everyone has a great week ahead
Take care everybody
:)

Hi everyone

I just thought I would let people know that in the end, I opted against the Bushnell Trophy Xtreme

I ended up going with the: "BUSHNELL AR OPTICS 4.5-18X40 WIND HOLD" instead

The Bushnell Trophy Xtreme might be good for Hunting
But its probably not ideal for Target Shooting
(Coz the reticle is quite fat - From what I heard from people)

Thus potentially being a bit of a problem if you wanna be as accurate as possible whilst Target Shooting

The extra 30% magnification might've made up for the thick reticle...

& i dont think the reticle is particularly thin on the ar optics scope either.

In any case...let us know how you get on...

I can't find a spec sheet for the Trophy Xtreme, but scaling it, it appears to be 1/4-minute thickness, the same as the AR Optics 4.5-18x40.

I managed to do some very basic testing the other day with the Visionking 10-40x56, despite the smoke - which has finally cleared today. I hung a tape measure on a fence post and benched the rifle to measure the elevation adjustment, which is about 42MoA total. With a 20MoA rail it should be sufficient to cover .223Rem out to about 1000m. On .22LR though, it's just barely enough to cover 100m to 300m. But the reticle is very fine, less than 2mm thick at 100m I reckon.

I just wanted to confirm the available elevation for setting the scope up. Now that the smoke has cleared I can get out and test it properly.

Well Blade, i know that the reticle in that scope does cover up a good deal of a bunny's head at 300...my longest head shot bunny is with that scope & it was a pain doing the holdover thing with how much the reticle covers...

So if they're both the same or similar, id rather the extra Magnifiication...

Stix;
Thanks man, i’ll let you know how I go for sure

BladeRacer;
Yeah I dno man, a few people have messaged me telling me that the Trophy Xtreme wasn’t good for Target shooting
They told me actually pretty bad feedback about it, especially how fat the reticle was
Turned me off of it a lot
On the other hand
I’ve had a few people message me telling me that the AR Optics was great and that they absolutely love it
Hence why I made a last minute decision to change my choice to the AR optics
I cant wait to receive it and test it out
:)
I may have to look into the visionking as well for down the track maybe, let me know how you go with it!
:)

I will let you all know how I go
I'll probably take it to the range in the next 2x weeks now
God bless you all!

Holdover? Do you mean you were using the holdover dots? Those are 1MoA which would've been huge on a rabbit at 300m :-)
Out to 300m with any flat-shooting cartridge you shouldn't be needing to use the holdover marks, zero at 250-ish.

No...not that scope....

The trophy extreme doesnt have dots--just a big thick reticle...
With that reticle its fantastic for spotlighting...

That scope was on my go to 204 fox/bunny gun & it doesnt track so i leave it alone at around .75" high at 100.
So because of that i had to hold over at 300...

As long as i hold a little low at 150, & a little high from 220- 250, it hits bunnys heads...

Dead hold on fox obviously...except top of shoulder at 300

In a perfect world i could afford a Swaro Z6 that actually tracked...

Ive had that scope off the rifle for a year now, but im going to mount it back on Sat because i need its current scope for another rifle.

Im going to check its tracking & send it back along with 2 others...

No worries 05, 18x is great to get you started. Bolt it on and get to the range.

Wind holds are great but reading the wind is hard. If the wind is blowing left to right but you are not sure of the exact value, you can hold on the left hand edge of your target giving you the whole target to hit as the wind blows it to the right. Many a time I have tried to be smart and aimed off the target only to find that was exactly where the bullet went. Resulting in a miss or no score.

This strategy is not good for long range but works well for hunting distances. At longer ranges you would dial in your wind value with you new exposed target turrets. Get out there and start turning those turrets.

That’s what I bought mate. After much deliberation too.
I’ve only used mine for targets out to 100 and it is great.
I paid 395 but they sent me one with the illuminated reticle so that was a bonus.
I think the wind hold is good. It’s the only hold off you will need for target... if you decide to use it.

Good job!
