Queensland PTA waiting times?

Post by Gun nut. » 26 Mar 2020, 6:12 pm

Anyone know the current time frame for a PTA at the moment? I guess in our current situation waiting times will understandably be longer. Cheers

Mine has been 8 days so far, Cat A 22lr. Seems to be the luck of the draw.

Cheers,
Dave.

Putting one in tomorrow for a vintage air rifle I really need, I'll post when it comes through.
The pen may be mightier than the sword, but personally I prefer the .30/30 Winchester.

Unless it's your first PTA, that is how it should always be. Just what the Act and Regulations prescribe.

Relax, it’s just the mandatory post pta application anxiety stage... it can be cured by going hunting or drinking but the two should never be combined in case of side effects ....7-21 days I reckon was about what I was seeing. But now we have covid weapons licensing are now going into slow mode , and u can’t ring them at the moment to sort out an issue. U can email them but an answer might be a long time coming .... on my recent licence renewal they tried telling me I have six rifles but I have seven so I had to set them straight ..... they are the law. They should be organised enough to dictate to me what I have in my safe but often we have to let them know what the reality is .........I saw something recently about surgeons in the USA accidentally leaving approximately 5000 items inside patients every year ,,,,,, so let us hope that number crunchers in weapons licensing stay put and never ever develop ambitions to seek a career change in hospitals

In the USA on March 20, the FBI processed over 210,000 background checks.
Just sayin'.

Does the FBI do them? Not the ATF?
I love American background checks(in the good states). Takes a matter of minutes. QLD has a licence system which you could argue is a pre background check. So it makes the PTA system a pure money grab and spying on how people are spending their money. If someone is not a criminal and approved to own firearms IE a licence holder than they should not need to ask permission to spend their money every time.
