What if? A well made Lever action

Post by CAVEMAN » 09 May 2020, 1:10 pm

I have been pondering lately with Henry recently releasing there .410 side loading lever action shotgun, which having not seen one in person but purely from reviews and Henry's reputation seems like a well made firearm. Would a scaled up version in 12 Gauge be something that many others would like to see?

I really enjoy my Pardus, but honestly its a cheaply made gun, that's pretty tacky when you really look at there m manufacturing. I personally really enjoy levers of all types and a well made 12 Gauge would really put a grin on my face. And as a consumer i'm very much in the mindset of "buy once, cry once". I'm interested if anyone else out there would likewise pay good money for a premium product instead of some of the current offerings.

I definitely would.
I have Pardus as well, I love lever action, despite the early minor issue that sorted themselves out it’s a great knock around shottie.
Yeah I would definitely pay good money for a top quality lever 12 gauge.

There is’nt one.
Henry have made the 410 for donkeys years.
In Victoria since march i think, lever action shotguns are classified as cat c or d full semi-auto assault rifle, so don’t be too surprised when your state does the same.
So i can’t have one anyway. And i honestly have zero interest in historical colonies. I don’t even like cafeterias.

Personally seeing as most levers are up the $700-$1000 depending on the shop, and some straight pulls are going near $1250 plus. Personally if i knew it was actually well made and something that's not going to go back twice for warranty to kind of work. And last me hopefully as long as most lever guns do id be happy in the $1500 mark. Which is around the price of a good center fire Lever gun give or take a bit.

Chiappa are probably the best on the market compared to the cheap Turkish ones.

The 1887 is still not a good model from what i've heard, with it having a complex operating system. I'm no machinist, but surely stepping rifles that handle 45-70 or similar to 12 gauge wouldn't be too hard. My hope which is slim is that one of the respectable lever manufacturers do decide to do it.

45-70 is same bore as 410 shot shell.
Lever actions are a very strong and could handle any calibre. That’s not the issue.
There’s just a lot of variation in 12 gauge shells and lever actions are’nt the best design for ejecting them.

Hi all,

Quick question regarding the Adler A110 Lever action. I noticed there are 2 barrel types. One with ventilated ribs and a standard brass bead sight. The other has “rifle sights”. Is there any maintenance/disadvantage on the one with rifle sights?

Thanks

In Victoria lever action shotguns are now Cat B but if it has capacity of over 5 shells then it is Cat D. It isn't banned.

I sent an email to Henry via there sugestion box. Sugesting they make a bottom loading, 5+1 capacity 12 gauge lever action. As theseres a gap in our market for a good quality one.

If anyone else feels obliged the link is bellow.

Doesn't hurt to ask, crazier things have happened. Cheers for the input.

Not a shotgun but have you used a marlin 45-70? The new black series look good.

I just think level action shotguns are low priority for the factories because the rest of the world has pumps and self loading. The rifles have the history of the cowboy era so they will always be popular mate.
