22 mag ammo

Post by Shootermick » 18 May 2020, 6:41 pm

I know that different rifles prefer different types of ammo, obviously. But generally speaking, what are people using for their 22 mags? I really like the caliber, and have always favoured Hornady V max 30 gr. But recently I bought some CCI maxi mag 40 gr, and they’ve shot really well to. Mainly put these through my Winchester 9922m. What is everyone else using?

There’s a few types of CCI ammo for the 22 mag and they all shoot awesome in my bull barrelled stainless marlin. Much better than any other brand I tried I don’t see a lot of advertisements from CCI like I do with Winchester or hornady or others

My heavy barrel marlin and mates sporter anschutz prefer win 34gn varmint and federal 50gn solids. (Not sure you can still get the 50s)
Both guns hate Hornady 30gn.

I have just been testing all the .22 mag currently available in my Ansutchz. Very interesting exercise.

Best was the Remington v-max but I also wanted a round for shooting bigger predators.
The CCI 40 grain was a standout winner for hunting with groups well under and inch at 75 yards.
