Dang powder weight variance

Hi all, Im reloading 9mm out of an old Dillon Square Deal.

If I weigh each load as it comes through the powder die I see similar powder weights each time.

But! When I use a bulletpuller to pull each round apart to confirm powder weight there is always way less powder than what I loaded/expect e: 2.5 gn instead of 3.5gn

Can powder fly out the back of the bullet puller? That is all I can think of..... The pullers have a hole in the back....

I was using a bullet puller on the weekend and there was powder everywhere, but I wouldn’t have thought I was losing a grain every time.

Weigh the loaded round, then dump the case, bullet and powder from the puller for comparison.

Weird, I generally dump the bullet and powder into the pan, lift the bullet out, put the pan on the scale and read the scale. I don't think I've seen any discrepancy that was not obviously due to spilled powder.

Yes, I believe it to be the result of spilled powder that has flown out of the bullet puller
