Except those results above are from a 3kg walk around rifle and your M48 needs a wheelbarrow with good psi in its tyres :D

Folks,
i have a hankering for another 30-06 and the S100 Classic (with the blued barrelled action and walnut stock) would be just the ticket provided OSA do have them in that calibre .

Sauer do recommend their Hexalock mounts but the S100 also takes Rem 700 bases - which is a big plus in that dept.

I do like the fact that the S100 is around the 3.1 kg weight bare - and with a nice lightweight scope makes for a great carry rifle.

Time to ask around ........

I’ve got a sauer xt in 30-06.
I’d rate it as good as tikka - maybe a better factory trigger...and at least as accurate. I’m shooting 168’s at right on 3000 FPS and it is my deer / walker. Just over 3.2kg with leo 4-12 / 50 vx3.
Action screws have come loose after a day on bench -load testing. I’d buy another in a heart beat.
Tikka .260 (Z5 5x25/52)
Steyr Pro Varmint .223 - VX 3
CZ455 .22 & Norinco .22 (vtex 4-12, bush 3-9)
ATA 686 U/O 12g & Baikal S/S 12g.
Adler a110 reddot
Sauer 30-06 - VX 3
Howa 300 win mag. SHV 5-20/56
Marlin SBL 45/70

Managed to find out that the importer only has the Classic XT in stock - all other variants are currently out of stock.

I decided on the beech-stocked Classic - i aint fazed that its not walnut - its a hunting rifle and will be used - not admired as a safe queen.

Will probably scope it with a fixed 6x Lynx optic - and aim for an overall weight around 3.5 kgs.

Look around, some dealers in Sydney are a little bit ridiculous.

I’ve noticed you can get a Mauser m18 in 223. If you were to choose between howa, Mauser and Sauer in 223 what would you choose? Then if you consider that you can get a howa for $700, what would you choose?

Id probably choose the mauser 18, trigger is very good. I have had 3 Howa's with modded Triggers and none match the Mauser.

no transfer fee as the rifle is new, $50 was their processing fee. Yes I paid a small shipping fee

Yeah ok. I was quoted me $50 freight to Sydney and said there would be a “transfer” fee at my end which, from what you are saying, Is $50 from magnum so all up $100 on top of purchase price. I was quoted $75 and $100 at other Sydney dealers which seems excessive.

yeah rates have jumped over the last year or so, I guess some shops feel jipped not getting a sale but what about good old service.
