CZ 457 Replacement Stock

Post by Jaxxa87 » 28 Jun 2020, 7:48 pm

I'm looking for a CZ 457 Varmint style stock to replace my American stock to give me more freedom with barrel changes, and I can only find stocks for sale in the US. Is there any import issues for a plain , non-extendable wood stock into Australia?

Boyds have a few versions available through cleaners starting at $299.

I have a spare CZ457 Varmint stock. I bought a Boyds replacement stock for mine because I have an old wrist injury that makes the Pro-Varmint stock easier to shoot. I hadn't thought of selling the original stock, but realistically, I'm not sure I'll ever need it again...

I'm probably a bit late to the party by I bought a factory CZ Lux stock from the US a few years ago and tried to bring it in via Australia Post's "ShopMate" service, as CZ would only ship to a US address.

Don't ever use ShopMate! https://shopmate.auspost.com.au/

They refused to import the stock, claiming it was a "gun part" – despite the obvious (it's a piece of wood). A lot of correspondence was exchanged, including an official complaint that got me nowhere. In the end, I had the stock shipped to a friend in the US who shipped it via USPS – and it came in via AusPost anyway. Go figure!

So my only advice is, if you're going to import a wood stock from the US, use a courier service or find a friend to help.

There were no issues with Customs BTW, so a long as you can organise freight, you shouldn't have any problems.

Quite a few options available for the 457 including adjustable Manners or KRG if you wanted to go down that path.
