Hey maybe you didn't realise but since last Sunday the rules have been relaxed a little. Children can goto playgrounds. The curfew is moved from 8pm to 9pm. You might even start seeing people mingling a bit as exercise is allowed with someone outside your house for 2 hours.

So these kids are not breaking the law.

As the video is tittled "Day 47 of 42 in Stage 4 Lockdown in Melbourne Victoria. Children Defy The Labor Dictatorship", and mchughcb is one of the members here in stage 4 lockdown, then I doubt the rules have been relaxed at all.

Thanks Albert but skate parks and bmx tracks are not classified às playgrounds and they not open to the public and that is why the council has not removed the flagging. Maybe you should read the Dan's rules.

Jees so much hate, you even had to highlight it in red.

Well mate, if you're offended, and believe I'm in breach of rule 3 of this forum's rules, you do have the option to report me. You never know, I just might be on my third stike and one more complaint will get me turfed. Balls in your court, so up to you.

Re: Today I watched 10's of people breaking Covid Rules

Post by eddievic » 19 Sep 2020, 2:42 pm

Now coming back to my post. I have a bmx track next to a kids play ground within 5k from my house. Only the week i was showing surprise to the wife that how kids were playing there to be told from last Sunday they can. There is another track that i noticed kids riding bikes on last week as well which is further away. Both these tracks don't have tapes.

I got a mate who is into MTB, and he was telling me that the "tricks park" in lysterfield lake is open plus the fire trails for him to ride his bike on, but the proper MTB tracks are shut (cuz they are repairing them after the winter rains).

Now i decided ill just call up dhhs covid hotline. And their reply:
There is no mention of bmx tracks in the guildelines so there is no no rules against them

Kids play grounds are open. As long as social distancing is observed.

Cycling is allowed. (Social distancing again)

And outside excersise on communal gym equipment is allowed (while observing social distancing rules)

And in true DHHS form, we can't give you a ruling you have to make up your own mind. (And yes the skate parks are shut....but the play is different as more close contact and loitering can happen there and i understand the reason they were shut in the first place)

You all can take it as whatever you may.

I don't follow Covid stuff as it really doesn't affect me, but I thought Melbourne was still under Stage 4, not 3?
I heard Police had put a "ring of steel" around Melbourne to stop them getting out into the country?

Yes still stage 4. Therefore 3rd step has not been enacted and it clearly highlights skateparks in the road map. Albert has an issue with BMX tracks as well but its been stated publicly that playgrounds are open for toddlers but for kids BMX tracks and skate parks are not. It is also very clear in the video that the council flagging tape continues from the bike track to the skate park. They have removed the flagging tape from the playground nearby.

I am trying to think of a way to say it.

But bmx track IS NOT THE SAME as a skate park. The guidelines mention skate parks, but do NOT mention bmx tracks, which was confirmed by DHHS covid hotline person

Lol, Albert, you need to look at the video again and you will see the skate park on the right and the kids on their bikes and skate boards on the skate park as they ride off to the bike park.

I am trying to think of a way to say it... without calling into question your (lack of) intelligence.... and hence get the thread closed.

But bmx track IS NOT THE SAME as a skate park.

I assumed he was referring to your comment - " (And yes the skate parks are shut....but the play is different as more close contact and loitering can happen there and i understand the reason they were shut in the first place)"?

Pretty obvious in this scenario the track and skate park are considered as one. Yes there was plenty of kids loitering that I didn't film because I didn't want them to be identified without masks.

Blade, mate as i said in my earlier post, after talking to the covid hotline, there are no explicit rules around bmx tracks. Skate parks are mentioned explicitly.

I am just telling it as i was told. Sure maybe it will come to the police persons Interpretation but you have to look at the laws.

A simple example in stage 3 they explicitly said gun shops are not allowed to be open even though most normal shops were open. Looking at those same rules SSAA decided their Springvale (and possibly little river) shops could be open as they had armouror license not a gun dealer license.

In the interest of the forum i have edited some of my posts that i feel have stepped over the line. It is not my intention to upset people, but i do feel very strongly with people giving the wrong advice because they might have misunderstood the matter. To that effect i have even tried to find clarity from the DHHS covid hotline.

Just in case Albert didn't get the health notice, I drove down to the park today and had a look at the 7 odd signs attached to all the flagging tape. So I decided to take a photo and the Melbourne City Council has made it pretty clear what the direction is. But lucky for those kids who can't read or don't like being oppressed, they just pulled down the flagging on got on with fun.

we all just need to stop responding to the bait that ziad/bill/denno throw out. it's been obvious for ages, thread gets put up, they wade into it, make unsubstantiated remarks to rile everyone up and then the thread gets deleted.

Let them post whatever they want, pretend they aren't there...

Today the wife and I met a single Russian mum who's become unemployed, her daughter lives at home and hasn't been to university for some time. She'd got a great english pointer that she takes for a walk. Normally she's a very cheery person. Today she was crying because of the stress of lockdown, retrenchment and no future. There will be hundreds of thousands if not a million people like this now in Melbourne.

no diff to my portuguese neighbour and his missus, both lost their Jobs in the CBD back late March ( he is a Chef she was a maid/porter), no PR or citizenship so have had no govt support what so ever despite paying tax ( no Jobseeker or Jobkeeper) and are relying on their fast dwindling savings and cash their parents send to pay for rent, tough stories everywhere.

Why would a claim by someone else make me look the fool?

Correlation does not imply causation. The fact that the post was reported by a certain member does not mean this was the reason it was deleted. This has been explained already.

The foolish response is in fact yours.

It was previously asserted posts are deleted at the direction of certain members.

I addressed this directly, detailing this is not the case.

You've chosen to ignore my response and go right back to the original assertion.

A pointless circular argument.

Locking this as it's going in the same direction as the previous Covid topics.

I'm drawing the line and saying Covid is not an appropriate topic for this forum, and we will be removing future topics unless directly related to shooting/hunting rules. There will be zero 'wiggle room' on this to discuss other aspects of the pandemic.

Get your health information from appropriate sources, not anonymous people on a forum unrelated to the subject.
