Most of the guys were using moonclips but some were using speed loaders, I think it's going to come down to price and availability.

I think mainly it comes down to whether you're re willing to accept the limitations of moon-clips. Not being able to top the revolver up during a course of fire, rounds coming loose from the clips, not being able to use loose rounds when you run out of clips, and the general bulk of carrying loaded moon-clips. the bulk is similar to speedloaders, but without the option of carrying loose or "flat-pack" speed-strips. With a moon-clip revolver you can only feed it with moon-clips. It's basically an en-bloc clip like an M1 Rifle or Mannlicher action, the clip is a required part of the firearm to make it function.
ob1 wrote:Most moon clip revolvers using a rimmed cartridge function fine without a moon clip. Cases rim space on an uncut area of the cylinder. The centre star may or may not eject the cases, depending on the calibre and this is the main consideration.
It sounds like you are not doing IPSC or icore, so anything you decide to use should be fine. Moon clips come into their own when you have to do multiple fast reloads under time pressure in a match. Whichever system you choose, have fun shooting the wheel gun.

Well, you've sold me on speed loaders, loading individual rounds into the cylinder is part of the fun when speed isn't a factor.
