Reloading components in a safe in the shed. Ammo in another outgrown safe in the garage. This one has a keypad lock which is 1000 times more convenient.

Nothing in the NSW legislation says you can't. The problem is always with Constable Plod's interpretation.
You cannot store ammo and firearm together.
There is also the interpretation that the magazine is part of the firearm and a loaded magazine is considered a loaded firearm, stupid I know, but that has been the case in NSW.

The OP is in WA. He needs to know the requirements there. Quoting NSW or Vic for example is pointless.

Better re-read the posts Oldbloke, my replies regarding NSW are directed to questions from posts from NSW. ( Including the O.P. )

I didn't notice that gamerancher.

But still, I don't understand why people muddy the water like that.

Oops, I'm the one confused. The OP is NSW. Lol

2 drawer filing cabinet, with a drop bar that goes through a loop at the bottom and padlocks at the top. My travel van is just a cheap arsed metal tool box. Works for now, looking for desiccant and considering lining it with timber. Holds all I need for now.

About a week ago I did some demo in a high rise unit. One of the 16 mm melamine cupboards in the walk in robe was not required so I was asked to dump it. But I disassembled it , roof racks and then reasssembled it today At home. ....now I have a massive tall deep Ammo cabinet with multi shelves ..so much easier and so easy to access
