I frequently practice at 300m with my 22lr, CCI Standard seems to give me the most consistent accuracy thus far.

if you asked me to estimate how many would connect out of 40, i'd of probably guessed more than 3. They had good wind also. Nevertheless it's always fun pushing a cartridge outside of it's design spec.

Ah yes, the old fire off a sh!tload of rounds at a far off target and then crow about it when a couple connect. :sarcasm:

3 hits in 40 rounds...l like my chances, I'll go down the other end and hold up a target for 5 shots,

Even if you got hit it only has 14 ft/lbs of energy it probably wouldnt even break the skin. A complete waste of time and ammo IMHO

Looks like fun though.

Definitely a good way to kill time between shots to give the barrel on your big rifle time to cool.

14 ft/lbs could cause an eye injury, id definitely wear safety glasses :ugeek:

Yes seems a bit silly to be attempting that. I am a fan of this guy though. Many YouTube videos of him doing up Holden’s. He’s very knowledgeable when it comes to LS engine tuning and ballistics too it seems. I used to watch his car dyno tunes so was surprised when I stumbled across this type of stuff.

By the way it hits that steel - pretty sure it would break the skin... I certainly wouldn’t be volunteering

how is it any different to the guys trying to hit steel with their 223 at one mile? both are completely useless at killing anything at such a distance, its just target shooting, to which I or anyone else could say,

why?

why bother wasting ammo on paper... but nevertheless there are people that like doing it and hence the only reason needed is just that.

It's still doing over 400fps though, easily enough to punch through a corrugated steel shed.

( ZaineB )

All shooting is "target" shooting, whether it's paper, steel or flesh and blood wrapped in skin.
The ultimate point of the exercise is to hit what you are aiming at. :drinks:

How about if you tensed up, like what you do with your face when you think your going to smack yourself in the face with a spanner? Perhaps then it'll just bounce off?

I feel a new thread coming on, "safe distances to catch a bullet "

Exaggerating the situation also exaggerates the knowledge gained.
Learning to read wind affecting a .22LR bullet at 1000yds is probably about as challenging as you can make it.

It only takes 200m to do that. The 200m 22lr fly matches are extremely educational.

Nah, 200m is too close to "normal" shooting :-)

Lol. If there’s any caliber your gonna expend heaps of ammo “plinking” so to speak, it’s ye olde 22lr! Cheap as chips.
