Post by scotty87 » 08 Jan 2017, 10:23 pm

Went for my first SF hunt last weekend and found an area with lots of browse, new shoots of grass and lots of wallaby and cow s**t, also found a picked clean wallaby carcass and a heap of this scat, is this pigs?

Thats what i was hoping, saw nothing but natives, which were in abundance I might add, the whole trip, found this sign in two locations but am going to wait till the area has had a good drenching before I head back.

Thought cow s**t was a flat, tiered pile? Or does that depend on diet?

Na, its cow dung dry diet does that. Pigs is more like human but, you will notice things like hair in it if they are eating a carcass.

I also find a good drenching spreads animals out more. Find a good watering hole in the forest somewhere during dry times and you'll find your ferals.
That's why that cow s**t is like it is...... Dry conditions.
I dunno where these photos are taken, but where we go, the drier it is, the easier it is to find them......
Although I do admit, we find if you can get to our spots when it's actually raining, the pigs love coming out in the rain. Easier to root around in the soft ground and dead easy to follow fresh tracks.

Cheers mate, next time I'm out there I'm gonna make an effort to find more water, this was in Girard, might not b far enough west for the piggies.ive got a good idea where to start next time though, was hoping to find deer sign more than pig.
