Never again you rogues,,

Post by Die Judicii » 10 Nov 2022, 11:17 am

Just recently when in town I'd finished the usual shopping (or so I thought) and was heading for home.
Right on the outskirts there is a liquor outlet,,, and at the sight of it I thought Dammm,,, I'd forgotten to get some Dry Ginger.
Had a friend calling in later that evening who would have a few drinks,,,,,, and I we didn't have any dry ginger.

So I pulled into the carpark and went in to get a couple.

Hot Dammm,,,,,,, they only had the one brand which was "Kirks" (the cheap stuff),,,,,,,,,,,, but, at $5-50 per 1.25 liter bottle.

You can buy the same size and brand in supermarkets for between $1 and $2

ROGUES,,,,,,

I saw someone in woolies buying "diet" tonic water a couple of months back.
Put that lable on it, charge a bit extra and the sheep come flocking.

More rogues.

I need some new bushes for my steering damper, due to Land Rover's patented under body anti rust system  ie endemic oil leaks, the bushes don't last as long as the damper.
Bilstein's website is hopeless (or perhaps my ability to search it) so I went to ebay for noathane to upgrade from genuine rubber.

Found several sellers offering "bargain" deals from $27 upwards.
Got on to nolathane direct, $10.18

Another problem with ebay sellers now is the number that put "Australian stock" in the location section.
Every one I've looked into were in bloody China.
Ebay knows this is going on but as they now seem to outnumber other sellers, ebay doesn't give a toss.

I have heard that some folks on Fleabay will advertise stuff and if an order received they are off to Bunnings or wherever to buy the item and ship.

Mate, that would not surprise me at all.

On the subjects of Bunnings and rogues, I was looking for a new nylon hammer last year found one at Supercheap for~$11, Bunnings had the same thing listed for $56.
I rang them and told them about the Supercheap one and asked if their beat it by 10% policy applied.

"Yeah, we'll give it to you for $10".

You have to wonder how many people just accept what's marked and pay 4 or 5 times what they need to, eh?

More rogues, the world's full of them

My ride on mower is down because a 20c circlip in the transmission has broken and one of the axles now comes out.

Because of IP and commercial confidentiality, the maker of the transmission won't let the maker of the mower have an illustrated parts or service manual specifically for the tranny.

The only thing the mower agent can suggest is I pay them $160/hr to disassemble it and piss about "trying" to find a work around.
They are very keen, of course, to sell me a new transmission instead.

Even if I totally make love to it, I'll pull it down myself, trouble is, experience has taught me that without a service manual there could be surprises inside.
We shall see.

For $23 on aliexpress

18 nylon and bronze brushes and 4 brass jags.
That's just over $1 each. In the LGS, mmmm I guess about 5x that.
I buy stuff at the LGS, but at those savings, nope, not brushes.

Nearest gun shop to me thinks he's the only one this side of Uranus.

Uncle Mike's sling swivels, $49.99.
But he lets you have the screws for nothing.
Big of him, since they're in the packaging.

People must be truly impaired to fall for scammers.
I've got a couple of things advertised on gumtree, just today I've had 4 trying to run an ancient scam.

"I really want your item, I'll pay whatever you're asking but I'm away working on an oil rig, so if you just give me all your details I'll have the money transferred to your bank."
The last one even included a link for me to get myself robbed

Back to why I started this thread,,,,, ie: $5.50 for one bottle of Kirks Dry Ginger at a local liquor store.

Yesterday I attended one of those IGA stores,, bought and paid for THREE same sized bottles of Dry Ginger, but this time "Schweppes" and it
cost me LESS than $5.50 for all three bottles.
Just goes to prove the Liquor store is run by one big greedy C#nt

Edit to say, just checked my transactions,,,,, and the three bottles of dry cost me exactly $3.40
