One in a million chance.

Post by Die Judicii » 14 Jan 2023, 12:17 am

These pics would have to be at the very least,,,, a one in a million chance of being caught on film.
Taken by one of my trail cameras back in the height of the last drought.
Just to demonstrate the size of some of the Goannas in the district,,,, and their strength and ability.
Amongst several smaller specimens was this fairly large one that managed to upend a wallaby.
Truly a once in a lifetime pic.

Around the Ord River I could hold them up by the tail and they were longer than I was tall.

Did it actually take a wallaby or just tripped it up?

Great pic, should send it to the ABC FB page or something, it's the sort of thing I get bombarded with daily :-)
Like the parrot that scared a burglar off last week :-)

Speaking of chances, how about shaking the dregs of a bottle of AR2206H into the pan to get 38.04gn when I'm loading 38gn charges in .303, that's special :-)
Having it be round number 99 is painful though, leaving one empty spot in the loading block, I thought I might get another 100rd block out before having to go up and grab another bottle :-)

When I look at the pic with the upended wallaby (magnified to just before clarity being lost) it does appear as if the goanna may the wallabies fore leg
in its mouth,,,,,, but it's on the blind side of the goannas head,,, so it's inconclusive.

We set our cameras up to take some video as well, we're well over trying to decipher some of the weird images you can get :-)

Nice capture. That is one quick and lucky wallaby. Close call.
