Interesting. Maybe the other video he tells you how to modify the nipple to take 22 shells,as a standard nipple would be WAY too small.
Also, most flintlock shooters are adamant that the ignition time is as fast or faster than percussion....yet to see that though

Ian McCollum took an Elk with a "muzzleloader" based on a Rem700 action. It uses what looks like the bottom part of a primed .223 case as the ignition.
Skip to 4:00 to see it.

I wonder if you can use a primer with the anvil removed on the nipple.

G'day bigpete,
He uses std #10 or #11 nipples to do this, but as he says in the vid they are not a tight fit, which he feels is a better idea. Watching him shoot he places the cap on the nipple then fires without moving around too much and it works. Personally I would turn up a nipple with parallel sides to suit or turn down the thread on a musket nipple.

I did watch the video,I'd have thought a no.10 or 11 nipple would be massively too small. The ramset cartridges he used looks like it fits at least reasonable snug from what I could see. Think I'd better pull a 22 cartridge apart !
