30-30 fp in 30-06

hey fellas , due to pencilling of 165bt's out of my 30-06 on pigs recently , i was just thinking of 170gn speer flat nose 30-30 projectiles may give more uniform performance when loaded to reasonable velocity's in my '06 . anyone tried this ?

I've done it in a 308. Worked really well. Not on pigs obviously but deer

Did it back in the 90s with 170 speer 170g on a sambar hind worked to good totally wrecked the off shoulder and I mean wrecked was only 40 yards.
I used the hornady 150g RN made for the 30 30 on some buck roos and if they were inside 130y they blew big exit holes so I'm thinking they would work Good on pigs .
And accuracy was very good at 2800 odd and 2900 for the 150g.

Suggest loading up to about 2500fps. As they are intended for 30.30 and more than likely a bit softish

thanks for the reply's fellas . you've confirmed my suspicions . i'm sorta-kinda trying to duplicate the massive energy dump i used to get out of my 358win on pigs . used to sit them down without a twitch most times .the ole '06 really is a good multi task caliber with varying projectiles for different performance and game weights

You really can't beat a 35 cal for that.
But I reckon you're on the right track with the flat points
