Here’s a nation that banned, outright, the ownership of pistols in the UK after the heinous act (Dunblane, Scotland) of a person who was known not to be a “fit and proper person” but, nonetheless, was able to maintain a firearms licence.
The ban is so thorough that it is not even possible to transit through a UK airport en-route to another destination, with a pistol.
Despite the down-side, the UK Home Office is inviting people to engage in a consultative process for the purpose of deregulating sound moderators. https://basc.org.uk/home-office-launche ... oderators/
It's an interesting read, and the justifications for the change.
The Australian States and Territories consider these devices to be so evil that it is virtually impossible to use one, let alone actually own one.
Our neighbours “across the ditch” are almost looked upon as being social pariahs if they DON’T use a moderator, whether it be for hunting or on a competition shooting range. The device is so innocuous that it can be purchased in the same way as one would purchase a bar of chocolate.
Does it feature in any criminal statistics? No, it does not.
And, it’s not as though the subject hasn’t been scrutinised within at least one jurisdiction in Australia, namely NSW. You can find the report here https://ro.ecu.edu.au/ecuworks2011/858/
Why is it still banned here? Oh, that’s right – politicians who believe what they see in the movies.
Keep the pressure up, fellows. There’s enough anecdotal evidence, which is increasing, to support the use of the device, and the outright stupidity of the ban.
