3mm door safes for pistols ( non nsw)

If you're State regs calls for 3mm steel enclosure for Cat H, is a 3mmm door and 2mm wall safe sufficient?

Also I heard from other members at the club they store their pistols in the internal ammo compartment and seem to think the internal compartment thickness plus the outside thickness should make them storage compliant.

Here in Vic the wall thickness is 1.6mm minimum, including door, for all firearm safes regardless of whether the handgun is in the ammo locker or not, that's it. Individual Clubs may require you to exceed this Minimum Standard before they will sign off on your PTA, mine requires a 6mm door thickness.

OK, your posts come up as being in Victoria. The ACT requires more than 10 Cat A and/or Cat B, or any Cat H metal safes to be 3mm all around including the door. Keeping handguns in the ammo compartment doesn't make a difference to complying with this requirement, I would refer you to the ACT Firearms Act 1996, Part 12 and the ACT Firearms Regs 2008, Part 11, Cheers.
