Truffle hunting in Melbourne

Ok, so not exactly our core type of hunting, but why not double up potential bounty on a hunt

This is a random one, but just an idea a friend put me onto.

Anyone know about such things? Can you realistically find truffles in Victoria forests or are they just too difficult to grow here and it's only farmed stuff?

I've got no idea, this could be ridiculous for all I know

I do haveva reasonable amount of mushroom knowledge but unfortunately not within the parameters you need.

You might be in with a chance these days.

20+ years ago finding truffles was a bit of a black art. You needed your divining pigs to find them, and grab them before they got eaten. Farming them was a bit of a mystery at the time.

That's all been solved these days now.

The Otways have been doing some pretty big truffle business for some years now, if I remember right.
