Do any of the associations or unions have a list of political parties willing to repeal the upcoming firearms regulations? WA ppl will be aware that we have a state election 8th MAR - the new regulations are due to come into effect 31th MAR. So, we have a tiny window of opportunity here. Get in a crew who's willing to repeal the silliness on day one.

Who would that be? Any political parties willing to put this up in an obvious and open way?

Who knows how authentic that attributed comment is? If its even being talked about as a topic of contention between the Libs and the Nats then that tells me all I need to know about the Libs intention - they're quite happy with the way things turned out.

It's obvious that neither the Nationals or Libs will fully repeal the new act or regs as that would be a backwards move..

But both have made it clear that they will have them reviewed and amended accordingly AFTER the opportunity for proper consultation has been given, which was not the case by Labor. For instance, the Nats have indicated they are not happy that LFAO are to be subjected to a WAPOL firearm quota requiring many to now sell firearms that were previously legally obtained via WAPOL.

Whether that will actually change who knows but at least it will be reviewed, which is more than what our wombat Minister for Police is prepared to even consider. This was a massive blindside with no consultation whatsoever.

As an example before the 1990 QLD weapons act, QLD had a 1979 weapons act. The acts did not contain a lot but they still existed. As much as I would like the states to have no gun acts I know they will always exist. However what we get in those acts is still possible to change.

Before 1958 I don't think we had any Firearm Acts in Oz, but I'm sure there were local regulations regarding some things. Before WA's current mess they had a different mess, their licences were for high- and low-powered firearms. Low-Power was basically blackpowder chamberings and shotguns, everything else was high-power, though I'm sure there were also chamberings that were banned. I have no idea what sort of morons got together to draft their original laws or where they drew their ideas from.

Really, its a bold and great thing. This is what they are saying (from their web site):

"Shane Love MLA will move a disallowance motion on the first Sitting Day of Parliament in 2025 which will stop the clock on Labor’s new firearms laws and we will go back to the drawing board"

So, sure, not repealing either - but a disallowance is probably the next best thing - after that it comes down to trust and power. Do the Nats, alone, have the oomph to actually change anything? God I hope so, but its not immediately obvious to me.

Its quite unusual for the Nats to be leading the opposition, thats where we are today, but it seems to me that this is just a lucky (?) outcome of the Libs having been thrashed into oblivion last election. How likely is it that the Nats will form a majority government at the next state election? Vanishingly small I'd suggest. Even assuming that the Libs have anything to offer and somehow get over the line, with the Nats in coalition, the Nats would almost certainly be the junior party and I doubt they'll choose to die on this particular hill if their senior coalition partners stonewall them on the issue, which would be my own expectation.

Even after reading their updated position (thanks for the link above) the Libs are just being mealy mouthed about the whole thing. Despite an apparent change in their focus on this I think their real intent is still clear, they're happy enough with Labors law and are only making noise now as they fight for relevance and a point of difference in the electorate. I don't get any sense that they strongly object ... except that it wasn't their own idea

Trump spoke about buying Greenland last time he was president so people already new. Panama he said we(we as in America) never should of given up the cannel. He never said he would invade. When a reporter asked him if he would rule out an invasion he said no. Rule number 1 of negotiating is don't put your cards on the table. He is not going to invade.

This is all a reason for the cowards to stay at home hiding on the shadows. All excuses.

They had the opportunity to absolutely terrify all sides of politics just with their solidarity and presence.
Without any poor behavior, threats or otherwise. This is just an excuse to again, be cowards.

This might be seen as a problem for the good folk of WA, or maybe those from Eastern states might like to hope it to be, but it's not.

I agree completely with Ozzie Reviews opinions of this, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of others. He's got some balls, risking his standing and reputation like this. Reading that Facebook link, the replies appall me in how many are just not contributing their presence because of a "fear" the (maybe, possibly, more excuses) 1% might give the media some reason to paint gun owners and their supporters as rednecks.

It's absolutely no wonder that the majority of people never reach their goals, are held back by perceived fear of others' perceptions of them, and their desperate need to just blend in, be loved by the public who really couldn't give a stuff whether they lived or died and obsessed with social media compliance. How pathetic.

The sheer weight of numbers of decent WA citizens, and ANY and EVERY offered opportunity to show the numbers to smash their opponents at the ballot box, and their potential influence on perhaps 100,000 others, cannot be underestimated. Man, what an unstoppable steamroller.

History is full of great people who didn't let others cowardice or cowardly lack of decision-making ability hold them back. Fortunately, in many cases as history has proven, (100's of) millions of people benefited.

Labor in WA have a Billion-dollar surplus. Outside of this issue, politically I don't see them losing this election because they are clever manipulators.They are not on the nose like they are federally or in Victoria. They will win this state election again.
