Is there any shooting/hunting podcasts that you guys are into?
I watch Ozzy Reviews and Edge Of The Outback on YouTube, so even if there is some other good Aussie content creators out there, let me know.

There's plenty of American stuff, but to me well a lot of that deals with firearms and stuff we don't get.
Not at all interested in channels that show the actual killing of animals, although that's an accepted part of any day on the farm here I do not agree with it and will keep my opinions of their personalities to myself.

I would be interested to see your business model, the way you do things.
I'm not quite sure why people are always so concerned about making money on everything and more just concentrate on sharing the game with their peers and just expending the exposure, I guess money just dominates the times we live in and I get that, but wonder why it seems to be such a driver.
For me, it would be to share ideas and procedures. I see a lot of things within the hunting and shooting game, particularly certain things I see on social media are just rubbish or self-congratulatory, and it's a shame the misinformation is soaked up by people watching who don't know any batter.
I'm aware we all have certain niches within any interest, and it's hard to please everyone or even anyone so why bother trying and just do your thing.
I saw a good video of Joe W Rea's where he said he just learned from looking at others efforts in comparison to his, not caring about the haters, and concentrating on being himself, and he's happy with the results. I I love his channel and his DGAF style.

Maybe I'll change my mind down the track, but for now I would just like to share some ideas, maybe provide some entertainment, and as well, set up an access-only side so my friends and wife can keep up with all the crazy things that go on out here that are a normal part of my day. That I never see from deliberate content-generating-only driven videos.
I'm not about to try and make some income from ever doing that, personally. People spend big on 4WD's and accessories, boats, guns, jet skis whatever for their spare time, without making anything other than chewing up time to live life.
The other thing I really notice is the self-congratulatory stuff I see online, about deer hunting and management, gear reviews, trapping etc, all presented as fact but really only manipulation for profit and self-status. I suppose people watch this and obviously get entertained, so I suppose that's the main thing and good on them.
Really appreciate your input.
Wapiti wrote:Hey a question from you blokes that have done this before, what cameras do you use?
Lighting etc isn't a consideration because everything I do is outside.
I drive around with a Gopro and an external mike on buggies, or carry a 20mp Sony compact camera with a 200mm optical zoom function, because for zooming in to things going on the Gopro is no good, and the camera fits into a pocket. There's nothing more that I hate as much as the pitiful digital grainy zooms of phones.
Also the Gopro chews batteries and is a real pain at times.
Am I missing better options maybe?

A bit like reading your posts on this forum then.

I appreciate it. It's a constant evolution getting better and leveling up. I look back at my early videos and go Yikes!, some of them are not the greatest but you learn through doing, so hopefully 2 years from now I'll be even better. I have fun doing it and it's always good to hear back from viewers when a video of mine helped them out.
One thing I forgot is I am adding a DJI drone with auto tracking function so it can film me shooting on the range, driving a vehicle or walking through the woods. So that will add some great photographic shots to help some of the videos.

Mate I got heaps of great advice from Youtube. I'd never have ever thought I could deep bore a piece of 4140, make, ream and rifle my own barrels with a button, chamber and thread anything I want, make springs, .
I've got a dual trade and engineering background and it's taken me to other countries, but I'm not a machinist and had to teach myself. Unlike an internet forum where fakes can hide, someone posting up videos of how to do something and proving it by hanging their arses out are priceless. Some of these guys put up procedures and advice that's easily proven, and it costs me nothing.
