I can understand the frustration around the new seedlings m, but apart from that, I to see bugger all damage from deer other than the farmers fence every now and then.

What grinds my gear, is sending in a helicopter, armed to the teeth, and leave dead carcass' all over the bush, for the other feral animals to eat.

Nerang state forest 2 yrs ago.
Chopper operations, to no avail.
They're still there. Hundreds of them.

Open it up for hunting.
Let Australians be Australian.
We eat lots of venison.
Would save a shyte load in fuel if I can go hunting over the road.
It's just dumb, and tbh, I'm getting sick of living with stupid all around me. It's perplexing.

You know what I reckon Damo?
We could have a proven working system like that of NSW, or Victoria, and allow THE PEOPLE to go out and have a wholesome healthy time getting away from the rat race and feeding the family, but NO, the "acedemics" (university-indoctrinated politically motivated non-achievers) set the rules.
The fact is, there is NO reason this cannot be beneficial to the people as a whole, except that
by setting this up, they reinforce a very big reason for the people to own firearms and concrete that necessary action and stave off the future utopia of a country where the only people who own firearms are the strong-arm of the politicians and their own plans - the Police.

We see in NSW, the by-stealth efforts to turn this tap off by Labor/LNP Duopoly, by realising this as the SFP has alerted members of the intentions to turn SF's into NP's and deny access to hunters all the way up the east coast as soon as they can manage it.
Whoops, by putting the screws on the real Aussies who are hunters after the collective Govts screwed up and allowed Bondi to occur, Minns has realised that hunting access is a big hurdle in his socialist plan.
Qld has so much pressure to resist allowing hunting from the inner-city concrete trash, from pushing the hunting-access for-the-people barrow for years I finally spoke to a high-up Liberal who's moved to the Qld Southern Downs. He's a hunter and has deliberately sold his Brisbane home and business to move out here and buy acreage to be able to hunt and shoot, realising that the only way he can do this for the rest of his life is to get away from the urban retsrictions.
I met him because of my participation in our fight against the 200+ turbine Pikedale Wind factory.
He told me that to stay in power that the LNP realises that they could be easily swapped for the anti-gun, pro-China manufactured renewables sales push that is neanderthal Labor, and the city voters would most likely swing against them if they openly supported hunting access and firearms use in the headlines. as it was, to resist the sickening liar Minns and not screw Qld'ers over too, they lost some political points with the concrete dwellers.

After being involved in this push, this is what I've learned. I've been bagged out by the "hunters" themselves, ignored by the governments and gotten nowhere but at least it's given me the personal feeling I did something myself and not just discussed this with those already onside.

We won't see hunting in Qld State forests with the current scum in Duopoly politics, and the majority of sheltered indoctrinated voters.

99% of the deer in Qld will either hunted mercilessly for money for the few and never allowed to reach their potential, and those that try and manage them to get to their natural best are just denigrated for their efforts by the same people who have the majority all fooled. Whilst the "deermaster" social-media influencers will continue to get free hunts-for-access to keep the pot boiling whilst pretending they have all this magic "free-range" to keep themselves personally supplied. It's pathetic really.
I really want to be proven wrong, and the only way this will change direction is if everyone stands up at once, using their "representatives scattered all over the place to come together as one. All at once. And forget for once, that not everyone who pays membership to them is a paper puncher.
And the paper punchers to side with the hunters, for once, and stand up. Because it makes both stronger. But they won't. Please prove me wrong yet again.

Apologies for bringing up an old thread, but who is this Hilldog and from where does this man reside and post?

Hillier is a backcountry hike in hunter in places around the high country Vic, a Sambar tragic of NZ origins, I think.
Lives in a rural area, down there somewhere.

He won't be posting anywhere much as the only forum I know of, where he wasn't banned shut down the other year.
Shame really, as it was just a handful of very knowledgeable vic hunters left, and I had some good conversations.

I only see Hilldogs free YouTube vids really, as I don't do any subscription type stuff and they all go that way for the money.
When you look at the numbers- thousands of free viewers, and numbers like 40-70 doing the pay thing- it can't go too long-term.
YouTube screwed them all over, as they made some money for what they are doing in the early years.
They took the profits for themselves; now the ads.

Regarding that forest Damo, if I got the right one.
A few forests were opened, or reopened after fires and stuff, including Nerang, or Narong, I think.
Likely the one they mentioned, as their chopper bombing is pretty ineffective all around here.
They likely let hunters back in for some sort of control.

How huntable the opened forest is up there is questionable, with some of those areas being even thicker than normal state forests.

He is worth a watch and may have spent all, or most of his life here.

He is into older cartridges and knows his projectiles, loved his 35 Whelen.
He has rough old-school ways, but was devastated after the big fires and could walk up to deer with burned feet.
He stopped hunting them for some time after.

When I scored that glossy Woodleigh brochure the other year and flicked through, his rough bearded head appeared in it.
He did a lot with, from memory, the 150gr protected soft point. Used a 7mm-08 a lot as a mountain rifle.

OK, copy.

Looks to me that here in Australia, there are few people getting into the outdoor shooting/hunting scene, and any person dragging a phone around can be an ambassador for shooting suppliers.
There's hope for you all yet, some blokes here are pretty knowledgeable.
I looked at a few of his videos and he's not my type. I don't know what it is, but yeah I'll give him a miss.
I was wondering who is this guy, why his opinions are so divided with people and why anyone's interested. I guess it's a Victorian lifestyle thing?

To me, I don't even know how they could bother filming while hunting; I surely couldn't.
They never admit to making any real money, but they must.
One of them puts vids out every week, without fail. It can only be for the feed and stuff; it gets more views.
Patreon is what they all go for, but none will ever get real money like Ron Spomer-type names.

The first week up on the farm, when I did sangas on the chair, under a tree in the nice area, I forgot to even hit the filming record button on my first cheapo night vision scope, my first real way to record.
I did remind myself last week, but the .22 PPC is not powerful enough for exploding fruit targets.
I tried the more expanding hunting pellets that can flatten like a disc when caught in milk bottles of water.
Still just pencilled through little mini tomatoes that I thought might explode.
They seemed ideal, and in different colours.
I had some bigger fruits, but only the .22 mag did explosions, but no recording with a normal scope.

I am out of ideas for exploding fun targets that can be recorded with the sluggie.
