Deregulation of air rifles and paintball markers

I was told by a guy (I know, I know....) at my LGS that they're going to be deregulating air rifles and paintball markers soon?

Didn't think to ask if he meant nationally, but at least in Victoria.

I couldn't but could find anything about amendments to the Acts or anything like that.

Does anyone know of this? Or is he telling porkies?

and I got a hot tip on the second race at Flemington, 1000 to 1 on PIGS ARSE.....

They wouldnt step away from the NFA in a manner that would suit shooters, except when it suits there agenda, like reclassifying cat B to Cat D.....

I wonder if Australia is the only jurisdiction that regulates Air rifles with Licence and PTA though...

No. Any spud-gun that is capable of causing bodily harm is a weapon. They cannot be licensed, registered or lawfully possessed. Possession and manufacturing such an item is an offence.

Well, can't say the answers came as a surprise.

TBH it had slipped my mind they'd need to amend the firearms ACTs and what that would required.

Foolishly hoped they could just say: air rifles and paintball makers are ok now.
