Couldn't resist the $100 rebate on top of the sale price. Gonna use the Para Elite Stainless as a basis for modifications. Gonna leave the Colt mostly as is.

What can I say, I like stainless. Can't wait to shoot it.

Those are Wilson Combat "Starburst" grips. I brought them while I was waiting for the paperwork to come through on the Para. But I ended up putting them on the Colt and decided to leave them there. Now I am thinking VZ grips for the Para.

These are the front runners right now.

Interesting grips.

Why the change? More comfortable than the chequering?

Looks a little more slippery maybe? Just in the picture anyway.

The black trim on the 1911 looks good.

My buddies Rock Island Armory has these grips in black but the same pattern. They feel great, better than stock and are a bit more rounded. I like them. Plus I want this one to have a more different look than the Colt (meaning I don't want both to have reddish grips).

The guns?
$1200 for the Colt
$600 for the Para but they generally sell in the $800 range.

Yeah the guns I meant soz.

Just curious how they compare to here.

Had a few topics on rifle prices in Aus vs USA but not pistols was all.

Thanks folks. I had planned on changing out most of the black parts like the mainspring housing, grip safety, hammer and safety to stainless steel as well. But now I'm not so sure. I like the blend of the black and stainless now that I've changed the grips. Either way I will be adding a magwell. But first a trigger job. The triggers not bad for a stock trigger, but I'm jealous of the trigger on my Dad's series 70 which he had work done to. Amazing is the word.

Changing to what?

The contrast between the black and silver looks good I reckon. Boring in all silver.

Not that my opinion matters for you guns of course

Was going to install a Wilson Combat main spring housing\magwell and Ed Brown beavertail safety in stainless and other bits. But again, now I'm not so sure.
