They are an art, that's for sure, but a well tuned Flint lock in the hands of a good shooter, can quite easily win a Clay pidgeon shoot
up against Percusion locks.
I think it was 'Mythbusters" who showed the two different rifles side by side fired simultaneously, and the impact on
the target was almost identical.
Biggest problem is more likely too many people wanting a Daniel Boon style rifle but not interested in getting proper tutoring.
All locks can be 'tuned' just like modern rifles.
My opinion is to start with a Percusion, then go to a Flint when you've had plenty of B/P practise.
Pedersoli, supply both locks with at least two of their models. (the Kentucky and the Alamo). I had one, fantastic rifle.
