The .308 seems to be the choice for these kinds of rifles.

I wonder what inspired them to go with the .260 Rem.

It does come in .308 as well.

Maybe offering a lower recoil option?

Here's hoping they make it available in a few other cartridges for which the 20" barrel is suitable. Maybe 7-08, .338 federal.

A .223 would sell but I can't see the advantage. It's not like you need a 10 round mag for foxes

UMMHHHH because it shoots a whole lot better than the 308. I'm wondering why everything has to be in 308 being it's such a antiquated calibre :?:  :?:

Don't forget Ruger have recently announced their Scout in .223.

If Ruger can't sell a Scout rifle, no one can. See how their one goes and you'll know.

I'm not saying it's the only option. Just saying it's the popular one for all the usual 'get a .308 because....' reasons.

I gotta say I reckon the Ruger Scout in a .223 isn't working for me.

Needlessly heavy rifle for a .223 IMO.

As a do it all, just carrying around bulk for no reason there I think.

Promising shooting factory ammo in the way he was off that rest. Looks windy too.

Hand loads and a skilled shooters looks like it will do very well.

Bah... humbug. I guess, as a range tool it wouldn't matter... as a deer rifle i'd like to think one shot would do, but a lefty for the possible follow up would be better. Might have to stick with the idea of rebarreling Frankenhowa to a deer savvy cartridge when i get a lefty 223. New barrel & fitted would be cheaper than a new CTR. But they do look very good.

Tikka have been good on the supplying for left handed in their others.

Maybe they're just giving the CTR some time to see how it goes before they invest in a supplying a lefty version.
