We can't carry our firearms in a situation like that but I might have to start turning up in full camo with every hunting accessory I can carry

Isn't sure that that's actually true, you are licenced to own and carry your firearms, I go into town to buy guns and can carry them to the car, you can carry them to the range.
Not saying the police wouldn't get major pissed but I don't think an unloaded, slung and lawfully owned rifle would be technically illegal at a rally.
