Well I was back at the same patch as last week for the second round of long range Bunny busting.
The day was 33c with around 20k NNW which thankfully calmed down to around 5k by late afternoon.
At around 3pm they came out in droves all three large warrens had healthy numbers but I mainly concentrated on the furthest warren where the range started at about 389 mts (425yds).
The first one targeted for extermination was at 496mts (542yds) , elevation was set at 7.3 moa, windage at 1.1moa for a 4k crosswind., parallax focused and after the reticule settled on vermin’s chest a 55gn Hornady vmax was sent on its way to connect half a second later placing vermin on his side and sending him towards the light.
Second one was at 423mts(463yds) elevation set to 5.2moa , same windage as before and another vmax on its way to remove the rear of vermin’s cranium.
Third at 432mts (472yds), elevation at 5.3moa, windage at 0.3moa , camera rolling, the reticule quartering his chest and another vmax connecting with victim dumping him on his side.
Fourth at 498mts (may have been 500) 545yds , this one looked tiny even with the scope on 20x . Elevation at 8.0moa, 0.2moa windage and after waiting for him to give me a side shot a 55grainer was released; the bullet entered behind the front shoulder and turned his rear end into pizza.
The Fifth was the easiest one for the day , at 384mts (420yds) 4.1moa elevation, 0 windage and an easy broadside shot , the victim was dumped on his side with a bullet through his boiler room.
Once again because of the heat, mirage was causing problems with the range finder , past 400mts it would often throw false readings and sometimes not at all. The white tiles are placed there to provide a reflective surface but even then the finder was having trouble reading of those.
Having said that , the 250 performed very well and has lived up to the task for which it was purchased for ,that is to fill the gap between the .223 and .260 at ranges from 400- 550/600 yds.
Cheers,
Sean.
